? Dominate side more effected by Scheloraderma/Raynaurd’s

I have asked my rheumatologist and researched why dominate side is effected more by schleroderma then other side and hadn’t found an answer. Does anyone know? My youngest son’s educated guess, “cells are more active on dominate side because of frequent use.” To be honest it is very simple and makes sense.

I am loosing feeling on my finger tips. Anyone else have this problem?

It's the same with other a/i diseases. They say, RA occurs bilaterally. When you read posts on HU, we know that's not true.

Hi lennyplus, I seem to be more affected on my left side, but I write with my right hand but tend to be able to use both hands for everything else. I have mentioned it to my rheumy but there doesn"t seem to be an answer. As for the feeling in the tips of my fingers, it"s a mix of loss of strength and sensation. I think Ssc and it"s brother Ray nauds, just likes to keep us guessing as to what they will throw at us next, it certainly makes life interesting, haha.

Referring to my earlier post, my joy of managing some gardening, as been somewhat dulled, by the fact of feeling pain in my wrists and back, but hey, I did some gardening outside in the sunny warm weather, can"t really complain and the lawns look great!!!

Good to know. I forgot the simple rule, everyone is effected differently. Life adventures, without them life would be boring.

God bless, enjoy life.

Hi there, there is no rhyme or reason really as to what areas of your body are most affected. You just usually notice it more on the side that you use the most and of course if you are doing repetitive or heavy activities then that will put more stress and strain on already painful inflamed joints.

Many people find that their joint pain flits about from one day to the next and one joint to another. I am right hand dominant but actually I have more or different issues with the left hand side of my body.

Regarding loss of feeling in your finger tips this can be the result of many things...swelling, reduced circulation, less use leading to reduced dexterity and coordination and even changes higher up the arm at the wrist, elbow, shoulder or even neck that lead down into the hand. This is something to discuss with your Consultant to see if there is something that requires further investigation or intervention.

All my best

Lucy xxx

Thank you, I am a lucky one that feeling varies daily even though I do hand stretches & use message gloves. New adventure every day.

Stay strong & enjoy life.

Hi there

I have numbness in my fingers but it’s lack of circulation to me. I do hand exercise to try and loosen up my fingers and wear compression gloves it helps with the blood flowing to fingers. And keeping them warm. I am also right handed but my left side gives me most pain and my organs on my left side are failing or no longer in use.

Yes it will and we all seem to have the same problems but it affects us differently sometimes so it’s really good to post ask questions I have learned so much from these post some scares me but I also like knowing what could happen and what might help.

God bless you too and I am thankful for each day.
