How much did you consider the direct connection of your condition with your diet?

Hi all,

I would like to start a debate on the following subject:

How much did you consider the direct connection of your condition with your diet? Have you changed your diet since your diagnosis (in any way) and have you recognized any changes this has brought with it? Has any of you tried to get off your medications with the help of some homeopathic alternative?

I absolutely believe that diet contributes to any autoimmune disease. My teenage son follows a modified autoimmune protocol paleo diet and has managed to come off all medication for mixed connective tissue disease.

Wow! This is exactly the opposite of what the documentary in the link I sent says (about the paleo diet)! But if it seems beneficial to your son, that's great! :)

Would you mind sharing some details about what disease he has / had and what the medication is that he took and managed to stop because of the new diet? Does he still have any symptoms now?

Trying to hear arguments for all sides, to get a clearer view for myself, so thank you very much for your input! :)

This is my third time trying a gluten free (and two times dairy free as well) diet. So far I have noted no significant changes unfortunately but keep hoping...

Thanks for sharing!

It was recommended to my by the doctors to try a "wheat free" diet. I was a bit puzzled and asked "wheat free or gluten free?" to which he replied I shall try wheat free and see if it makes a difference.

I had a go at it but stopped seeing much point to be honest... I found a lovely German rye bread which doesn't contain wheat, I also switched from toast to porridge in the mornings, used spelt flour instead of wheat flour etc... but eventually I figured that all the while I am changing what I am eating and try to make myself feel better about it, I am still consuming gluten on a regular basis! And we all know that gluten is the actual culprit when talking about cutting out wheat.

Having watched the documentary of which I posted the link above, I am now thinking that going dairy free might actually be more beneficial (I have stopped eating meat about 13 years ago anyway and was never into fish and seafood). So, we'll see... ;)

Hi hunkydory,

I appreciate this is an old

Post but I wonder if you ended up modifying your diet after watching the documentary listed above and whether that made any difference. I only saw “what the health” this week and I’m

Very intrigued especially given I’ve been following literature on whole food plant based diet for a few moths now.
