Who has uk private health insurance - worth it or not?

I've not actually been diagnosed with Scleroderma and Raynauds but I matched the symptoms myself. Private health insurance don't cover current conditions but do you think they would if Gp fails to diagnose or refer to specialist until after I take out the policy.

I notice the same question from you in the EDS community. Insurance will cover you for any undiagnosed conditions but where investigations are underway they will not quote until those are completed. In terms of EDS, the insurance is meaningless as they can associate faulty collagen to everything as it's a connective tissue and therefore linked to most things (in my experience).

I was thinking it may be worthless having the private insurance as connective tissue diseases will be seen as chronic - long lasting and no treatment to cure. Still I would be interested to hear if anybody had insurance and did it come in useful or not.
