Hi,

Just wondering what the skin scores actually mean? I was 10 in November 16 15 in December 16 and May 17 20. I will be starting on an immunsuppresesnt in the next few weeks.

With having a rare Autoimmune disease - do we get any help with prescriptions?

Thanks

Naila

Hi Naila, the skin score is just a way of recording the changes in your skin. The extent of the changes and nature of the changes will be used by the Consultant to determine the treatment that they offer. It also means that they have a way of recording any progression to these changes. It gives them a benchmark so they can see if the treatment is effective.

The answer regarding prescriptions is 'No'. There is currently no help for people with Scleroderma. If you are in England the best thing to do is get a prepayment prescription card. I do an annual one so I pay £104 for the whole year. This works out at about £10 a month on ten months of the year. As the cost of one prescription is nearly £9 and I often have four or five a month then it is much much cheaper to do it this way.

I think the above link should take you to the site. But if not just google prepayment Certificate Application and you should get there.

Hope that helps

All my best

Hi Lucyjean,

Thanks for the response.

If u don't mind me asking which scheloderma do us have?

Are u using any particular cream for skin tightening?

Cheers,

Naila

Hi Naila, I have the limited form. My skin tightening is mainly my hands. I have found the best thing for my hands is Molton and Brown hand cream and on my face I use Sun Sense Factor 50 Face Cream during the day and Aveeno moisturiser with pure Vaseline around the lips and mouth at night. You really need to ask someone who has more significant skin involvement than me to get a better answer. What does the SRUK website suggest? Or the Royal Free website?
