Pain relief

Its two years since my spinal operation, the hospital diagnosed me Oxycontin and Oxynorm for breakthrough pain. My consultant following an MRI concluded nerve damage. My consultant recommended I attend a chronic pain clinic to try and find an alternative to my present medication. I find they are excellent painkillers but they make me feel lethargic and sleepy for the most part. Is there alternative pain killer's out there that works as well as Oxycontin and Oxynorm.
