Wee Splotches of White?

Wee puzzle....anyone else notice white 'freckling' of their skin? I have loads of these white patches which look like freckles all over my arms which are really noticeable in the shower. I have systemic sclerosis so I know it can affect the skin but just wondered if this was common on the white freckling.

I have them too on my arms and legs.

Thanks for reply ilovedancing. Not noticed them on my legs, but not really looked as I usually wear jeans but will have a check later after I have my shower.

I also have this, I think it is common. Just makes sure to use sunscreen when out in the sun.

Hi Sclerolife.....so you think this is common to those of us who have sys. sclerosis? or just common generally? I have not noticed this freckling until recently...well, over the last year since I was diagnosed. I also have a couple of red spotches..large freckles...one on the tip of my nose which is annoying as it is so noticeable..and some on my fingertips. Isn't it queer how things appear on your body and fascinate and puzzle us?

Hypopigmentation is what it is called, common amongst ssc along with hyperpigmentation which is darkening. I have both on my arms.

Yep, me too. I mainly have them on my arms.

I am not sure but I have the tiny little spot I also have Scleroderma and up until 2012 hado changes in skin pigment. However this was reversed after a course of cyclophosphamide.

I have them on my legs. I didn't know it was due to scleroderma.

I have them also. My Dr seems to think it is not related to scleroderma and was told to wear sunscreen. You are not alone Marilyn

Hi Leann.....only since my diagnosis for systemic sclerosis have these wee splotches appeared so this is why I was thinking it was related to this. But, if others who have them and don't have sclero. then maybe doc is correct. I have been told to stay out of the sun or wear sunscreen because of the medication I have to take and I am fair skinned anyway, never tan just burn..so many thanks Leann.

Hi Marilynmcl. I have quite widespread white 'freckling' on my forearms which is really obvious in the hydrotherapy pool or shower. I think it looks different to the areas of hypo-pigmentation which I have on my back and chest which appear in smaller clusters but maybe it is the same thing! I have diffuse SSC .

Have same as you Alice...diffuse...lungs have three different types of damage...COPD/bronchiecstasis/pulmonary fibrosis. My white spots are also more noticeable after a shower I don't think I have any spots of these on my back but can't really see around there... . take care pet.

Sorry for taking so long to reply but hadn't noticed your response. Your lungs must make things difficult for you. I am due a repeat CT scan at the end of the month to see if Cyclophosphamide infusions have made any difference to my lungs. Fingers crossed!

Hi Alice....hopefully good news on the results from hospital on lungs. Had mine and been told that the cyclo. infusions seems to have halted more damage happening but irreversible on damage already caused. So, fingers crossing for you on better news to come.
