Been referred to Prof Denton at Royal Free, so hoping for some more answers. I'm the mean time, does anyone out there have insufferable itching, my arms & legs are driving me nuts, but there's nothing on the skin. My forefingers on both hands now have ugly, thick, rough skin down the sides too. Anyone got any ideas?

Make the most of your appointment with Prof Denton. I was referred to him when I was first diagnosed with Scleroderma. It is a good idea to write down a time line of your symptoms and ny questions you want to ask in case you forget when you get to see him. I only saw the man himself for my first appointment. I now go every 6 months to the scleroderma clinic but see a member of his team. They usually have a trolley with samples of various creams to take home. Maybe there will be something for your itching but I am sure they will be able to suggest something to help. They are very thorough. Yu will probably see a nurse who specialised in scleroderma as well to advise on any supplements you might want to take and give you advice on managing the condition.

I went to see Professor Denton and as ilovedancing said they had a trolley with samples of creams to take. I picked up some Doublebase gel and that was the first thing which stopped the itching. I have used it ever since. You get it on prescription.

The itch is shocking and painful. I havnt been given anything for it yet and the pain and burning, unbelievable. Get it on my hands too. Ugh

I take an antihistamine for mine it helps most of the time. I haven't found any creams that help mine.

I have diprobase on prescription which helps my itching, I lather it on. My scleroderma nurse also recommended aqueous cream and said I could also use it in the shower. Not tried it yet.

My face, ears nose and top lip itch till is could scream.One doc said no itch nerve there. Is there such a thing as an itch nerve. Often body itch as well.

I too have been referred to professor denton. My GP referred me in March, but i still have not heard anything. Does anyone know how long you generally have to wait for an appointment?

I think I had to wait about 6 months altogether from being referred by my doctor to actually seeing Professor Denton.
