Nailfold capillary test

Do Rheumatologists do this as a routine test with Raynauds symptoms? Of course I am in the US. Anyone on here from US?

I'm in the UK but my understanding is they do that test where the raynauds developed later in life and/or if there is additional symptoms which suggest an underlying immune disease as the cause eg swelling/skin or flesh damage/chilblains etc - I had this test it was very useful as an early indicator

I am in the US and yes my doc does check on every visit. Sometimes with her microscope when my nail folds are extra red. I have Scleroderma, and my Raynauds is secondary to that. I am sure I am saying that wrong. Still a little new to the autoimmune stuff.

Yes your Raynaud's will be secondary to Scleroderma you have it right.

Yes, I had the test last year after developing raynauds in my late 30's. Went to be diagnosed with lupus

I had the same test done when initially diagnosed with SSc after having Raynauds for a few years & then other symptoms began as well.

They should do it as part of the diagnosis.

I am in the UK and had a nailfold capilliary test during my initial diagnostic appointment. That was three years ago and I haven't had one since. I was diagnosed with scleroderma (limited systemic sclerosis) and have secondary Raynauds.
