Really good article! Thanks for sharing that. It's a bit difficult on the NHS though isn't to have all the tests etc. They are so restricted in what they will do because of finances, but we do our best hey? :)

Yes, an interesting article, but I didn't spot any references to evidence based on scientific investigation! And she is selling books and pushing web sites / suppliers - might she have an interest in those, or get a referral fee per customer that visits via her site and buys something??

Sorry to be so sceptical, and I hope you don't think I'm talking down to you, but please do look for, or ask for, the reference sources used to provide the scientific basis of the claims and then check the references out. And always be wary of people who are selling 'miracle' fixes.

I won't deny that some people have food allergies or intolerances, but I've heard too many people say that the tests they've had done by companies outside the health service come back reporting multiple food allergies.

And, let's face it, we can all feel better and improve our health if we follow most of the dietary advice she gives, plus reducing our stress levels (well known to be harmful), not to mention more sleep (for most of us) and more exercise: those are more or less the basic messages that our own health service tries to get us to pay heed to.

If you feel you do want to try an exclusion diet don't do it without taking your doctor's and / or rheumatologists advice.

Again, apologies if you're already aware of a lot of this, I have a dislike and distrust of people who make money out of those who are desperate for a solution to their problems be they physcal or emotional. I have tried a few things in the past myself, and especially self-help books, but I began to realise that most of them carry more or less the same message but in different words. I won't say I didn't gain something from them but I stopped buying them when I realised that.

I'd better get off my soap box now and get to bed :-)

Hi Barbj - thanks for your comments !!

I totally agree with you that all articles must be approached with caution, and of course what may work for one may not work for another !

I have a BSC(Hons) in Biology as well as being a barrister in law and so am quite critical of material / sources etc but as Wayne Dyer tells me 'I am open to everything and attached to nothing' !! and with this diagnosis and the daily challenge it brings, I am more than open to anything short of licking the windows haha !

I started an exclusion diet last december without any dr's involvement - I was on the verge of climbing the walls to try anything to feel better ! and luckily for me cutting out bread / carbs has shifted my energy levels and I have less bloating.

I am on year 16 of the diffuse ssc and raynauds rollercoaster and do believe that my personal input / responsibility for my health along with the wonderful support of the medical team around me, has got me beyond my initial 15month prognosis back in 1997.

I have also delved into the self help book bandwagon but no longer have the means to purchase so I go to hayhouseradio.com to nurture my soul ! have you tuned into this ?

best wishes to you :) x
