Hey everyone! Had anyone ever had trouble falling asleep due to anxiety, skipped heartbeat or flutter feeling? Well this is my nightmare! Sometimes i sleep fine and other nights i get awaken by my acid reflux or having a bad dream which leads to me having a panic attack and causing fluttering or skipped heartbeat feeling in my chest and then i have the hardest time getting back to sleep which is messed up my sleeping schedule having me sleep til 4 or 5pm and then im up for the rest of the day and night and dont fall asleep again til 4-6am in the morning! Help me please i need all the advice u all can give me! Im thinking my bad sleep habit has caused my irregular heartbeats and frequent anxiety episodes before i actually fall asleep

I have Afib and anxiety and severe stress and I have problems with sleep every night. When I fall asleep I keep waking up I must only get 3 or 4 hours sleep each night, and bad dreams as well. We might have a sleep disorder, mine has being happening for 8 month.

Destinyweathers,

Hi. I can identify with the anxiety portion. I suffer from anxiety every night because I never know if my legs will stay calm enough for me to stay lying down all night (I have Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD) ). I am in the process of putting together a playlist of binaural beats, sleep mediation sessions, and sleep hypnosis sessions to fall asleep to. Have you tried mediation of some sort? Mindfulness mediations or progressive relaxation (aimed at un-tensing the muscles)? What about breathing exercises? When you wake up, for example, you could try concentrating on your breath. Have you heard of the 4-7-8 technique? It might sound simple, but it works wonders!!!! It's demonstrated here:

Also, how is your sleep environment? Make sure to keep your bedroom cooler than the rest of the house, make sure it's completely dark (I've even resorted to wearing a sleep mask so my eyes stay shut), and make sure you have air-flow (ex. keep a window open). I am used to having both bedroom windows open, but now that it's getting really cold out I can't have them open, so I brought myself an air purifier. If interested it's an Airfree E50.

Lack of good sleep is hell (to put in mildly), so if you want any more help I'm here.

Take care,

Jessica

yes indeed...I can only say I relate very much too your sleep issue, I suffer similar for a long time...have explained to Doctors/Consultants, researched endless and am none the wiser, sorry. Melatonin is my next stop if I can get some. Xanax will do it but that's not recomended. Sorry cannot help further. I turned to alcohol for a long time but that not really proper sleep either. Music helps..I awake tonite, I estimate a 4am nite similar to yourself and nakered tomorrow....sucks.
