Can anyone recommend a 'Microwaveable Eye Compress'. There are so many options. I've just been watching 'BSSA Webinar - Looking After Yourself' which was very interesting and informative. Thank you.

Amazon sell one called therapearl warms in 20 seconds in the microwave have used them for several years
I use optase, have had it a couple of years now, goes in the microwave for a few seconds, think it also helps my sinus, bought one for my daughter who also has sjogrens and she sometimes Puts it in the freezer to cool her eyes. There’s quite a few on the market, probably all have the same effect. I only went with the brand I have, as it was advertised in the BSSA magazine.
I use a USB plug in eye mask which cost around £20. Gives you a timer and heat level function and a constant temperature throughout the ten minutes needed. Microwave one kept cooling down too much over the 10 minutes. Not heavy and no thicker than a normal night eye mask. Washable cover too. Plugs into phone charger plug next to my bed which is handy as I need to do it twice a day. Got it from Amazon. Far better than a microwave one which I tried first.
Sorry forgot to mention but I expect you know the reason to heat the eyelids is to melt the eye oil which in Sjogrens often turns to butter and can't oil the surface of the eye properly and blocks up the meibomian glands. The heat goes some way to trying to keep the butter oily. So a cool or cold mask won't help that's why an electronically heated mask in my opinion works better as it has a constant temperature. I find the soreness is somewhat relieved by doing this but you have to be vigilant and do it every day if you have been told you have this problem. The Rheumatologist and Opthalmologist are always checking that I'm doing this so it's really important along with the eye drops etc..
