Wrist pain

Hello, I am new to this forum. I was glad to discover its existence!

Sjogren's was diagnosed last year, secondary to polymyalgia rheumatica. The PMR burnt out (I hope, for good), but the sjogren's has taken its place. I didn't have much obvious pain, though some inexplicable muscle and joint pains appeared - knees especially - but I could deal with them as they didn't incapacitate me. However, this week, the inside of my left wrist feels as if it's burning, is very sensitive to the touch and the hand is painful, though not weak. I had heard of peripheral neuropathy but didn't know much about it. However, the pain in my wrist corresponds all too closely to descriptions in several web sites. I have an appointment with my rheumy in December, though I'm seeing my GP in three weeks. He has a very good grasp of skeleto-muscular issues and will, I think, confirm my tentative self-diagnosis. Seven weeks ago, I had a very nasty fall - fractured my shoulder and bruised just about everything else on my left side. Could this accident have expedited the possible neuropathy? I was well and truly shaken up, not a good thing at my age - 76 - or any other, for that matter! I would be very grateful for any advice you can offer about treatment and self-help.

Can I ask how your Sjögren's syndrome was diagnosed, as distinct from PMR, they have so many similarities? I sometimes wonder about my very dry mouth that appears to be getting worse.

I hope someone comes along to answer your specific questions. Best wishes Jane x
