CHEER UP
What makes you feel a little less fed up with incontinence? A cheery, competent nurse or carer? Things which make it seem a little less abnormal - forums such as this one and other Internet sites? Because I am paralysed and live alone, the Internet is an important widow on the outside World for me.
Are there any other things which cheer you up?
Right now it's the little signs of springtime that cheer me - the return of songbirds singing their hearts out in the morning, the "longer" days of sunshine, the return of elk in our area, and the first budding out of the trees.
I also treasure my Friends online who are keeping my spirits up with silly things that make us all laugh while we are all isolated and unable to see each other.
Recently my husband was in a rehab hospital for almost 3 weeks. The best nurses who helped him through his incontinence (and his multiple fractures) were the ones who could make him not feel so awkward about it all and who could help him with a bit of wonderful humor. They were very positive and fostered a "can-do" feeling about everything. They were GREAT!

For me, it’s humor. Laughing about anything, including incontinence. I went to a Chinese Restaurant and had lunch. The fortune read “You are about to experience a refreshing change”. I thought “you have no idea “!
I kept the fortune and taped it to the top of my box where I keep my incontinence supplies in the bathroom. My wife and I both still laugh about it. Every time I need a “pit stop” I look at it while I get my supplies ready. That’s one fortune cookie that is proven true over and over!
Hope this makes you smile! This is a hard road and a lonely one. But a laugh is worth a lot!
