My husband and I knew there was a chance of our baby having sickle cell, since we found out she has it, I have found it hard.

I want to be strong for my daughter, I know there is a long road ahead, I just want to understand as much as I can to help her in every way I can. We are in contact with our local society. I want to know if anyone else was in this situation how are you coping now? I think my husband is coping better as he has a relative with sickle cell anaemia.

It is very hard to accept and deal with, because it is easy to deny and always better to imagine it cannot be you, but do take heart and know that all is well with the baby. It is very important though to make sure that the baby takes her prescribed penicillin and folic acid regularly and never miss the required dosage. It takes time to process but the truth is that it is hard to understand when they are very young to know when they are having crisis, but believe me you will know. As a mother we find it difficult to think of the pain our children are going through or will go through but you must be strong and courageous for the little one. Also you need to be strong for your husband has it may be denial that he is going through which you see as a coping strength, so that in time your strength will become his own. Take care and may God be with you all.

I knew I had the sc trait. My husband did not know or at least he didn't think it was important enough to get tested. I was devastated when I found out my daughter had the disease. She is now 31 years old. She is a mom now. Her daughter has the trait. My daughter was diagnosed when she was six years old. Testing wasn,t mandatory in 1981. She was frequently ill with pain crisess. I cried all the time when she was little. I still do when she is sick,She gets blood exchanges which have helped. Sometimes i ask God why my child. But God is still in control. I pray for my daughter allways.Treat your child with the utmost love and care. Follow the doctors advice. You can't LOVE your child too much. DON't LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN!!!

GOD is still in control. You can't help feel sad sometimes. It is human. I still feel sad and my daughter is 31 years old. Keep your head up and look to Jesus. HE has never lost a patient. REMEMBER THAT!!! Treat your child with all the love GOD gave you. You will be fine.

Yes. I must admit I treated my daughter like a little princess. I felt it was my fault that my baby was born with this horrible disease. I ask God everyday to keep her strong and healthy. Stay strong sickle cell patients. Watch your diet and fluid intake. Fruits and vegetables are always good for everyone. Don"t smoke or drink !!!! unless you are drinking water. Please respond to me if noni juice helps you.

Sickle Cell is not the worst health condition. Thank God for is special arrangement and HE can turn a bad situation to GOOD. God has seen my daughter through hard times and emotional problems. When she started Cellod-S at 28, symptoms disappeared, she was able to cope well with her job as a busy Physician, traveling round the world. Now she is married with a child. It is the Lord's doing. Thank you Jesus. Wari, read, pray and try Cellod-S, details in the net.
