This is typical for Sickle Cell HbSS. The heart has to work a lot harder than for any other blood types, especially during crisis. If you can reduce the number of crisis you have in a year, you protect your heart and kidneys.
I have the trait but get crisis. By having a enlarged heart I get short of breath. I'm also borderline anaemic. U take blood pressure medication
