Prescription charges are set to rise again. As a member of the Prescription Charges Coalition, we believe these prohibitive costs are dangerous. Please read and share the PCC's statement on this planned increase: prescriptionchargescoalitio...

We're invested in this issue because the burden of prescription charges can make people sicker by not allowing them to access their medications. At the moment, the best option for prescription charges for people who work is a prepayment certificate, but these are pricey: £104 for a yearly one and £29.10 for a three-month one. These certificates cover all your medications for that time, so if you are prescribed more than 12 items a year, you'll save money... however, this is not ideal because it requires a large upfront payment, when people with long-term health conditions including sickle cell shouldn't have to pay anything at all!
