My left knee has been not been the same after chemo. It does occasionally swell up and become painful. I've done X-ray and mris and they don't show any damage. So I just take otc pain relievers when needed.
I got my Mri results back yesterday. I have a torn meniscus and will need surgery
My entire left chest, arm and neck were swollen. OT put kinesio tape. My entire spinal cord is inflamed from the chemo. I believe the swelling is inflammation.
I’m glad you found out what it is but bummed you need surgery. Best of luck to you.
I'm going to hold off on any knee surgeries.come to find out i have 2 Tears not one.the orthopedic surgeon said as I knew that chemo also harms other things also.especially tendons and cartilage. He said eventually I would need my whole knee replacement. I never had knee problems prior to chemo.my next journey one day I guess.
After I recovered from chemo I moved to a 3 rd floor apt.detetmined to get stronger. Maybe the 3rd floor might not be for me after all?
I had elbow and knee pains and aches after my first chemo on taxol and carbo. I also had jelly legs for 3-5 days after. Joint pains happened on day 5-7, then cleared up. I went to a Osteopathic doctor for high dose vitamin C IV (weekly) and have had no more since. Unfortunately insurance doesn't cover, but I coughed up the money because my pain overrode a few extras. I am absolutely sold on the vitamin C IVs. They cleared up an autoimmune disorder after 3 treatments which the ear, nose and throat doc said I would have for the rest of my life as a result of the chemo, he said. He also said I would l have to see a rheumatologist for the rest of my life. He was proved wrong. Its nice to get some positive news now and then. Halleujah!
Thanks for the info on vitamin c injection. No one ever mentioned during my treatments. I wonder if I could benefit from it now
Cynthia, Carbo/doxil has given me severe osteoarthritis in hip. Chemo causes rapid bone loss and osteoarthritis. Currently in 4th month of remission. Getting a total hip replacement in the next few weeks. Doc told me to have it done now before the cancer comes back. I had NO arthritis or joint problem at all before chemo.
Thank you for sharing this with me.atleast I know now...I'm praying for a long remission for you.thanks again for responding
Did you. Have your hip surgery
Yes, had total hip replacement surgery end of January. I LOVE IT!!!! I'm doing PT a couple days a week and back to driving. I'm sooooooo glad I had it done. I hope you are doing well and not in pain.
Wow that is awesome news! I still haven't scheduled surgery to have my 2 Tears in knees done...but I am finally going to schedule it.
Will it be arthroscopic for your knees? I've had that done for both knees due to ski injuries (15 years apart) and it was also pretty amazing! Be sure you're on blood thinners as blood clots are common in cancer patients.
Yes it will be.i had it drained once(THAT HURT LIKE A BITCH) it's already filling up again.
