Hi! I was diagnosed with primary peritoneal carcinoma, then ovarian, then fallopian tube (they narrowed it down) 10 years ago. I was Stage 3c. It covered every organ my abdomen. They sewed me back up and said 6 months, without treatment.

I went with treatment! I had chemo first: Taxol/carboplatin. It zapped the cancer. I guess fallopian tube cancer acts like ovarian, so they treated it as such. Since my cancer was so advanced I remained on chemo for 6 years.

I'm now taking Lynparza, which has kept me in remission for 4 years.

I hope everything goes well for you! Please keep us posted!

I remember feeling so vulnerable and scared, too. I learned that I didn't have to feel that way. Have faith, everything will come to good. Snuggle under lots of blankets, have a hot chocolate or herbal tea, listen to beautiful, calming music. Meditate, pray, hug people you love and trust. Take charge of your treatment; ask your oncologist about support programs available to you. Many clinical connect with the hospitals that teach art classes, knitting groups, walking groups. Use this opportunity to make new friends and experience new hobbies.

Ask your loved ones to help you form a team of caregivers for when you are feeling under the weather and/or need rides and help around the house. You may be pleasantly surprised to see how many are ready to help out!

I'm sending hugs and prayers your way! Just remember, we're all in this together! Keep us posted!

Love, Margaret🤗😚💞💖🙏

Big hug, Wanthealth. One minute we're chugging along on life's track, the next minute we're derailed.

When do you see your doctors? I found that seeing my GP helped me a lot while I waited for my appointments. We talked about issues in generalities.

All I know is that there are a lot of us out there and we're leading decent lives. There's always something new when it comes to treatment if we just can hang in there.

I know nothing about your cancer, but I would offer a suggestion that you really pamper yourself with good food, rest, relaxation and if you can, go for gentle walks. (I started by walking in the hallway.)

Do you have someone to go to your appointments with? I know that when I review the notes my husband makes, I realize that there are times when I blocked out information because I'm overwhelmed. Ironically, the things I block out are the positive things the oncologist talks about.

You've found a good place here. Lots of good information and support.

Take care.

Thanks I do have support here my husband. My girls and grandkids live in another state where we have a place but because hospital and Drs where I am now are better I won’t have my girls😟 which is another issue I haven’t told them yet cuz still don’t have all my results and wanted to wait till I knew as much as possible ... also insurance is an issue and I’m very worried bout all the medical bills!! Let’s just say right now I’m a hot mess 😔 thanks for listening and any advice is welcome ... Please say some prayers for me if you would 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

It's all so overwhelming when we're first diagnosed. Such a shock.

I hate the thought of you worrying over medical bills. I don't have any advice about that, but are there cancer agencies where you live that you could see what they have to offer?

I understand wanting to protect your daughters and waiting until you have all the information and results. I'm the same way. But I constantly grapple with maybe I'm doing my loved ones a disservice by not letting them know what's wrong. I have no answers. But if you would get comfort from your girls by talking to them on the phone, maybe it would benefit you. I have no idea, just typing out loud, so to speak. Let's put it this way, hypothetically, if your mom was going through what you're going through, would you want to know?

I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes it's okay for mom to put themselves first and get comfort and solace from their loved ones.

Keep posting and don't forget to breathe.

I’m sure your doctor will sit down with you at your next appointment and give you more information about what they think are your best treatment options. It will depend on a number of factors such as the specifics of your diagnosis. Ie what stage and grade ( fit it metastasize and if so where and how aggressive is the cancer) and what type of ovarian cancer do you have (for example I had high grade serous, the most common, but there are a number of others.). For most women diagnosed with ovarian cancer where it has metastasized (grown beyond where it initiated) the first drugs that are used typically are a combination of taxol and carboplatin. As you know more about what is being recommended, we can help you understand what to expect. Best wishes. Gwen

Try try try to get a grip on your mind's overdrive. Easy to say, I know, and we've all been there. But you need sleep. You need to give your mind a break and your body a chance to rest. Can you meditate or pray to keep your mind from troubled thoughts?
