to anyone who knows anything about cold cap. I haven't heard or been offered this process, ice pack? I will probably lose my hair again and I hate that. Just when I started looking human.

I was not offered the cold cap so had to ask for it. I thought that it was really worthwhile. The nurses fit the cap and you wear it for half an hour before your treatment starts. The first 10 minutes are uncomfortable and I had to grit my teeth a bit and then the pain goes and you just feel numb and fairly comfortable for the rest of the time and can sleep or read etc. You then keep the cap on for a bit longer after the treatment finishes. Once the machine is turned off you wait 10 minutes, the cap comes off, gently pat with a towel and put a woolley hat on to go home-bliss. The only places I lost hair is where the cap didn't fit well-mostly the very top of my head . I did not need to wear hats or scarves.

Wow,i heard about this but I didn't think it really worked...they should have us all do it if it really works!!!

I wasn’t offered the cold cap either.

Was told I would loose my hair regardless with carbo/taxol. I didn’t ask to try. Sometimes wonder if I should have. My hair started to fall out 2 weeks after my first treatment.

I hope you can ask and at least try it if you want to. Xx

Same experience, felt like someone pulling hair out by roots about 10 days after treatment. Have not heard word 1 about it in Fl.

My Dr. Offered this as an option ,since it has proven effective in preventing hair loss. Chk out comfort level, however, which I remember being difficult. I didn’t use it.

I wish you effectiveaa treatment whatever you choose.

I got the cold caps from the company directly. I am based in the US so was not offered. My husband helped. I never needed scarves or hats. Did lose about 50% of my hair but am very glad I used them!

I used Arctic Cold Caps, and I’m so grateful to my Oncology Nurse for telling us about them. I’d heard of them, but never thought I’d be the one needing them.

But they worked great! And the company was awesome! Basically we rented the caps until we didn’t need them anymore.

I would suggest cutting your hair as short as you can stand prior to chemo, cutting it short with layers all over I think is best, especially if you have thick hair.
