Hello everyone. This is my first time on this page. I was diagnosed with stage two ovarian cancer in November 2016. I had a hysterectomy in December and am currently in treatment (Carboplatnumand placlitaxel). I have a question about a white light that flashes across the corner of my eyeball.Has anyone experienced this side effect of chemo?

I don't recall a white light that flashes, but chemo did affect my sight. For the most part it recovered after I stopped chemo. I would suggest you talk to your oncologist about it.

Best wishes,

Gwen

Hi, welcome to our lovely gang, I'm sorry you've had to come to us but we're pleased to meet you.

I had carbo and taxol too but didn't have this symptom you've described. The chemo did affect my eyesight a little though. I would speak to your oncology team about the light, just a thought - have you ever had migraine symptoms? I used to suffer when I was younger and flashing lights was one of the symptoms I experienced then.

Good luck with your treatment and keep as well as possible ❤️Xx Jane

Yes I had that side effect from those chemos. It's a tuff set of chemos but you will get through it. Keep the faith.

Apwu, yes, I had similar thing called optical migraine. I had zero pain from it, but my eyes became extremely sensitive to light. The flashes got bigger until they were elliptical shapes spinning with flashing sparks the color of whatever I was looking at. I am now 10 months NED and they stopped a few months back, but my eyes are still very sensitive to light, I have a hard time focusing and now have cataracts.

Thanks Tesla 7. Now I have a name for it..I'm due for my last chemo treatment this week ( so happy about that), so hopefully they will go away soon. The flashes last about about a week and a half after chemo.

All the best

Apwu, go to eye doctor to rule out other possibilities. Detached retina also has flashes. Also, get eye drops so eyes do not dry out.
