A new SHARE member recently asked about what tests can she take to detect for ovarian cancer.

You should find an GYN Oncologist They'll most likely send you for a CT scan and a blood panel including a

CA 125 count which is very specific for ovarian cancer.

Have a ct scan with contrast and a CA 125, that's all I had done. Best of Blessings to you

Yes, to Tenae, I agree that the ca 125 count is very important to finding ovarian cancer, which you may have based on your symptoms. I have it, as it is a common women's cancer. It is hard to live with cancer, but chemo is your best option should they find a tumor. Don't be afraid if you have it. Just cut back on milk and sugar occasionally.

In the US the tests that are used to differentiate ovarian cancer from other diseases include a CA125 (blood test), the bi-manual physical that we typically get annually at our gynecologists, and a transvaginal sonogram. Some of us(including me) had a CT Scan and that's what lead to the initial thought that we had ovarian cancer. However, it isn't considered the standard of care. If a doctor suspects ovarian cancer the other three tests are the "standard of care".
