Hi gillyflower1,

I've been on Faslo (+Ibrance) for 34 months...I love it!

I had been on Letrozole (+Ibrance) for almost four years prior to that. In retrospect in figured out that the Letrozole was giving me joint paint, etc., which I thought was just old-age (mid-50's) but then I read here that many others had similar, and the problems vaporized once I made the switch.

Of course the one very small issue is the injections..ouch!...but as long as they warm up the shots prior and inject very slowly (90-120 seconds per side), it's not that bad.

Wishing you many good years on this nice, easy treatment!

Lynn

I am going today for my 3rd shot. Then I get them once a month. I have not had any problems with them. The injection does not hurt. I just finished my 1st cycle of ibrance. The doctor has not mentioned to me that you can get the shot in pill you can get the shot in pill form. I prefer the shot it's faster acting.

I have been on Faslodex only as my first line of treatment since March of 2019. I have difficulty swallowing pills so I am not on any other meds. My liver met is stable. My advice is to try to relax when the nurses are giving you the shots. Do not tense up. I lean on the counter in the exam room. You may have bruising at the injection site and soreness. I have also had itching for a few days. Sometimes I have a metallic taste in my mouth after the shots and my urine has the metallic odor also. Drink plenty of water and this will go away. I also find that walking after the shots helps along with the heated seats in my car. Good luck.

I am on Ibrance and Fulvestrant with Xgeva every 3 months. I get shots in both my butt cheeks every month. As soon as I get to my appointment, the nurse gives me the shots and I hold them in my hands to warm them as much as possible. She pushes them in slowly and my only result from that is my injection sites itch a bit for the next day. Other than that, my hair has thinned and my doc says that is from the Fulvestrant. My pee stinks for a couple days after the shots too. All in all...it is not bad at all.

I think I’m the same as all your other replies I get the shot once a month shot it’s self doesn’t hurt. But I will say that I have arthritis in my one hip and for whatever reason after I get that shot my arthritis flares up a little bit I don’t know if that’s in my head or if that’s a real thing but….I do have a little leg pain for a day or so after the shot but it’s nothing severe and I’m even able to work so it’s not bad.

I have been on Faslodex for about 2 years. One shot in each cheek. I ask the nurses for a competition of who can shoot them in the slowest.

I think the pill form is still in clinical trial, but should be available soon. I am looking forward to it just because the shots are such a pain.

No other complications, but I am on several other things, so it's hard to tell where the side effects actually come from.

Good luck!

Faslodex? Easy-peasy. All the advice above is spot on.

I had Faslodex injections for a year with no problems. They are generally not painful and cause little to no problems.

I lie face down for my Faslodex and Lupron so my muscles are relaxed. It hurts a lot for me and leaves a big tender lump on each side that lasts for about a month. It's worth it bc it's working.

I've been on different estrogen-reducing medications before and this was by far the best! You really shouldn't have any issues with it. Just make sure the nurses hand warm the syringes before injecting it and that they do it super slowly. The mixture is thick so when I've had the occasional nurse do it too fast then it has hurt. Heat pad on your injection spots can aid the dispersion afterwards and massage those lumps! Massaging them will really help the most to lessen the size of the lumps. The best advice I had from one of the nurses though was, if you find you're really itchy from the injections take a Claritin. It's a bit weird but it really helps!
