Multiple lung nodules

Hello

Mums scan results showed multiple lung nodules. Not sure if infection or cancer. Her last scan in nov was all stable (one tumor in lung and one lymph node). She has been on ibrance and letrozole since last april and may be switched to capecitabine. Does anyone have any positive stories about this drug. I can't believe there shows multiple nodules since her last scan in nov. Feel sick

Thankyou xx

Sorry to hear about your Mum. I had been reading this on the cancer active site. So though I’m sure someone will be able to give you personal experience, you might find this link interesting. Take care Chriscanceractive.com/article/ca...

Ibrance can cause serious lung side effects! After just a few cycles of it in 2016, I developed something called Intersitial Lung Disease, which the pulmonologist I was referred to explained as being "gunk between the air sacs." It makes me get out of breath very easily. When I saw the heading of your post, I immediately thought of Ibrance and also Afinitor,as both those bc meds can cause serious lung issues. While ILD would not be good news for your Mum, it would probably be alot better than lung metastataes! If I were in your shoes, I would either call your mother's onc and ask about this possiblity or talk with your Mum and have her make that call. The meds I am now on for the ILD are both "puffers", albuterol and Brio. You could ask your Mum's doctors about those. Millie, my own mother died of lung cancer in 1985 and for me, that was sooo much harder emotionally than having cancer myself has been! Our mothers are such important people in our lives and I think having a good mother is probably the greatest gift we can be given in life! My brother and I were fortunate to be able to be with our mother at the time of her death. We were each holding one of her hands and when her breathing stopped, one of us said "I love you" and the other said "good bye" and we have never been able to remember which of us said which. It was the first time I saw anybody die, and it really was a great comfort in the midst of my grief, as I knew that she was comfortable and surrounded by love as she left. I hope you don't mind my telling you all this!

Hello, sorry to hear about your mom new developments. Perhaps a pulmonologist consult would be helpful to further understand what the nodules represent.

I developed symptomatic pneumonitis and the immediate thought was it’s related to Ibrance, but the additional chest CT scan was reviewed by the pulmonologist who concluded that it’s a late stage (3mo later) effect of radiation of my spinal mets.

So I continue Ibrance and pneumonitis slowly cleared.

Wishing your mom all the best!

I have had a really good experience with Xeoloda...Afinitor wrecked me (the same lung problems described above, with lots of weight loss) but I’ve really come back on Xeloda...I walk 2 or 3 miles a day, and just came from a 10 minute walk/run, and, with the help of remeron I’ve gained back half of the 25 pounds I lost....I looked so waifish and pathetic for a while! So Xeloda has worked for me. I take 1500 mg twice a day, one week on, one off. I currently weight 120 (though I’m not sure they factor weight in). Good luck!

I have been stable on Ibrance and Letrozole for almost five years. I have multiple breast cancer tumors in my lungs. About a year ago, a PET scan showed suspicious new nodules or something, which I figured meant progression. My smart oncologist said we needed to biopsy the new area. It turned out to NOT BE PROGRESSION; I was diagnosed with a rare fungal infection, coccidiodomycosis, also know as "Valley Fever," which is caught in California and Arizona from blowing dust spores. People with normal immune systems fight it off, but I didn't since I've been on oral chemo meds. So I still have stage four breast cancer, but I also have a fungal infeciton in my lungs. I did 9 months on 400 mg of daily Fluconozole and now the infectious disease doctor is taking me off it and will follow me. Wacky, right? I hope your mom has something benign or a simple infection. Get a fresh biopsy!
