CoC (Care Oncology Protocol) and your Oncologist

Hello Ladies !

I know there are a number of discussions about CoC Protocol. I'm meeting with one of the doctors/oncologists this Thursday via conference (Zoraida Mendez) to discuss getting on the protocol. careoncology.com.

One of the challenges I have is that my oncologist here in Arizona is somewhat old school. Dr. Sharon Ondreyco. arizonaoncology.com/physici...

She's been around for quite sometime but when I ask about supplements etcetra, her advice is just take a multi-vitamin. My delimma is to share with her whether I'm getting on the protocol. I probably will but I'm pretty certain she'll be against it as it doesn't benefit the Pharma / Oncologists. I'm seeing her on Friday.

Have any of you on the protocol "NOT" told your normal oncologist? I just recently started with Dr. Ondreyco as my prior oncologist move to Sedona (lol - terrible place huh !)

Also, how can I find an an oncologist in Arizona that is an integrative oncologist. I have searched everywhere.

The CoC protocol does not interfere with IBrance or Faslodex (both of which I'm on). This I discovered on numerous websites (Drugs.com ) and others.

Thoughts, coaching, advice?

Thanks in advance !

Julia

Hello,

I am sorry but I am not familiar with this protocol. I have seen it mentioned on this board once or twice but do not not know anything about it.

Best!

Hello, I had a similar relationship with a similar oncologist, I took the route of being absolutely clear about alternative things I was doing - even into her blank looks! Eventually, she offered me a second opinion and I suggested that it would be better for both of us if I changed oncologist permanently. She very much agreed. We need to be empowered in our treatment, and have an open relationship with our medics. Feeling empowered is good for our health. I am not suggesting that you necessarily change oncologist, however, I think it is imperative to have a relationship where they understand your priorities in life, so that good treatment decisions can be made. They are employed by you (!)

Very interested in views on this. I asked my team and their only response so far has been to ask if they are the ones who are asking patients to pay for a trial in effect and they would not recommend. I have pretty strong views on healing/nutrition/big pharma that I don’t find resonates with consultants which makes a hard situation even harder at times!

Hi thereI had a consultation at the Harley Street COC in London about eighteen months ago

I wasn’t terribly impressed as the consultant just reeled off the four drugs and the info I had already read anyway

I received my drugs after several days after chasing them up!

I didn’t feel very well on the statin so rang the clinic and she recommended introducing one drug at a time which I did

Eventually I ran out of one drug before the others so I requested a repeat prescription for that but they refused without me traipsing to London plus another fee

I just had an uneasy feeling about this clinic...I felt that making money was more important to them

I didn’t make another appointment and nobody rang to check on how I was getting on or showed any concern

Anyway that was just my experience and I’d paid a lot of money for not a lot

My oncologist knew my intentions and said if their protocol was that good we’d be all on these drugs now

Barb xx

Glad to see someone else from Arizona on here but sorry we are on here too...I go to the St Josephs Cancer Center in downtown Phoenix and I see Doctor Albert Wendt. While he would never say he was integrative he is very willing to listen and discuss all possibilities. I see his Nurse Practitioner every other time and she is even more open minded so there is a nice balance. Also, its a one stop shop so all my scans and labs are on site and there is a Starbucks in the lobby :)

I'm not familiar with COC. I get Faslodex injections every 4 weeks and have been for 18 months.

I am in Tucson and suggest that you call the Banner Cancer Center at 520-694-2873 to inquire about the type of oncologist you are looking for.

Look up sloane kettering internet site. It has a ton of info on supplements. It is excellent and will give you much better advice than what most doctors know. I do know that Vit D is critical to keep over 60. Also, take Vitamin K to help D and bones stay as strong as you can, I love C and Kettering states that l theanine and melatonin suggest a much longer life for cancer patients. It make sense to me when you read the research they have done. MOST oncologist really do not know this as doctors are only taught a few hours of nutrition in med school. They are beginning to learn more but still behind what it should be. The important part to me is to buy the cleanest products on the market. Look at ingredients an make them as clean and simple as possible. Good luck keep us informed.
