Went for my long awaited Consultation today for my jaw problem. Thank goodness it hasn’t progressed and the Consultant said the small piece of protruding bone is ok to leave.
All very well but it’s sharp. So it was suggested my Dentist files it if necessary. That’s fine, all I wanted to hear was it’s ok to carry on with my Denosumab injection every month as it helps
So Friday 13th wasn’t so bad after all.

I am now the proud owner of a deep pink (almost red) Christmas cactus. Now I just have to keep it alive 😁
Thanks to Cheryl , I’ve joined the flowering cactus craze ! 😂... had a lovely trip to my local garden centre yesterday , (which was empty first thing ) and got myself a white one , along with cactus feed ( this is a small plastic tube of cactus liquid feed called ‘cactus focus’ that you stick in the compost and let it slowly drip feed over the weeks) ...I’m hoping this will keep it alive as I’m a novice too! x 🌵

I’m over the moon right now Sophie as I thought it was getting worse. There is more jaw bone but it seems bigger when you feel it with your tongue every day.

That's great! I'm glad things are starting to come together at last for you. It's easy for doctors and nurses to put things off, but I'm sure they would feel differently if they were in need of medical assistance.

Excellent news....
My wobbly tooth and sore gum has settled. I saw the hygienist last week and had a good old scale & polish.
I have got a follow-up with the maxillofacial surgeon in a couple of weeks just to be sure.
I’ve got a CT scan & bloods on Monday and see the oncologist on Thursday. I will discuss with her whether or not to re-start Denosumab or leave it for another month just in case ....
I will keep you posted.

Hi, I just joined the group and noticed your posts on ONJ. I would love to hear more about your experiences and commiserate.I was on XGeva (denosumab) for about 3 years and developed ONJ on the roof of my mouth just above 2 molars. I had to have 2 root canals due to pain. The dead bone was removed and I'm left with exposed roots of the two teeth.
I now have a cracked molar on the lower jaw on the same side and will see an oral surgeon about treatment. Normally they'd just pull the tooth, but I could develop ONJ in that area. I haven't been on XGeva for 3 years but I still worry about the risk.

Hi and welcome. I was on Denosumab for three months when I had a tooth extracted. I should have been on a drug holiday but nobody gave that advise. I then had a Denosumab injection a week after the extraction. It created a non healing problem where the tooth socket is. I had some exposed bone removed a year later but now I still have a small amount of protruding bone and a large hole in my gum. The facial/ cranial consultant said no more healing would take place. It was a definite lack of communication between the hospital and my dentist. I think Denosumab has caused me several issues with my teeth. I had a bridge removed yesterday that had a crown, false tooth and another crown on it. One tooth had decayed under the crown so the whole lot had to be removed. Not a nice experience yesterday. My dentist removed it and prepared it for my Dental Hospital appointment mid July. They will remove the nerve and make the tooth good. They won’t extract unless is really necessary.I hope this helps you. Mine was caused by a simple mistake. 18 months on and Im still in pain with the ONJ.
