Ibrance, Letrezole and Lupron. These hot flashes every 30-40 are terrible. I don't want hot flashes this often for the rest of my life. I've tried meds alcapunture everything. Input please.

Hi Wendy Marie,

I'm sorry to hear that you are being bothered so much by hot flushes. I can't comment on ibrance or lupron, as I don't take those drugs, but this is definitely one of the listed side effects of letrozole. Have you spoken to your oncologist? He or she might have some suggestions or some drugs/supplements that might help. I had a few hot flushes in 2018 and another one 14 months ago, but I can't really pinpoint what I have done that may have helped. I try to eat a healthy diet and include flaxseeds and chia seeds most days, am physically active and try to stay well hydrated. I hope you can overcome the hot flushes soon, as they are a pain and if you are having night sweats as well this is probably disrupting your sleep.

Take care,

Sophie

As a young lady growing up in the very hot south, Savannah Ga, we were repeatedly exposed to “garden parties”, veranda teas” and other nonsense. When I complained about the heat once, my mother, a 50 year cancer survivor whispered very demurely “slide your foot from your shoe. Drop a piece of ice under the table snd put the ball behind your toes over the ice”. I would have done anything to cool off, so I complied. It worked. It cooled my whole body. That was the first time I understood what all the wet spots were under the tables or why there were so many linen napkins on the floor or lawn! Give it a whirl. Six generations of women in my family have survived the southern heat this way. If this doesn’t work, seek out a compound pharmacist and ask what kind of cream they can make for you to use transdermally to help!

Hi Wendy Marie

I suffered terrible hot flushes and night sweats and after starting MBC treatment. My oncologist recommended acupuncture. I was dubious at first but, don’t ask me how, it worked and my hot flushes completely disappeared. It took a few sessions to “build up”. Due to Covid I had to stop the acupuncture treatment and haven’t been since March. I am now suffering again, including the night sweats and I can’t wait to be able to resume the acupuncture. Perhaps it doesn’t work for everyone or you could try another therapist and see if that helps. Good luck. Vicki

My doctor put me on Venlafaxine. It’s an anti-anxiety med but taken at low doses it works wonders for some women. I took it while I was on Ibrance and it worked. You do have to wean off of it if you no longer need it, but it was a life saver for me. Nighttime sleeping was awful with hot flashes...up every couple of hours to change my nightgown. Good luck! Elaine

Mine have subsided a lot now. I’ve been on Letrozole and Ibrance for 19 months. They were worse of a night. The Letrozole is the main cause I believe. Not a good thing especially in public. Hope they get better.

Thank you. Iv was wondering if they would get better the longer I was on the medicine.

I was given an anti-depressant to help alleviate hot flashes. It’s working well for me. Your oncologist can prescribe it for you.

I'm on ibrance and Faslodex with xgeva shots. My hot flashes are horrible. I'm on venlafaxine, but it doesn't help much. They are worse at night. I also take gabapentin, but that doesn't seem to be helping either.
