Increase in bone met pain at toward end of Ibrance cycle?

Completing my first cycle of Ibrance 75mg. Had 100mg last cycle. Had terrible pain over the last 2 days in areas of met lesions while on day 19 and 20. Next onco appt is next week. Also on letrozole and Zometa IV. Does not feel like letrozole pain in joint, but deep bone pain which got worse later in the day.

I haven't experienced similar, but do have two thoughts...

First, just want to confirm that you didn't have a zometa infusion (or xgeva/denosumab) just prior to the pain? I understand that the zometa, which strengthens the bones, can cause some pain...No sure about the xgeva, which is an alternative to the zometa...

Also, I think it's possible that this is a sign that it's working? I remember, early on, my doc saying that the tumors can hurt when they're healing, just like they can hurt when they're being destructive...

I hope someone with more relevant experience replies, though...

Thanks Lynn for taking the time to post a reply. The Zometa IV was a little over 3 weeks ago. My hope was that it was the tumors/ lesions healing since I would expect the Ibrance to be closer to a peak. I was not sure if that was possible. I also had very severe pain when I went through radiation. Maybe it was the same type of healing going on. Thanks again.

I had the deep leg bone pain when I was on Ibrance and with different chemo I have had. I just switched oncologist and she said to take magnesium and up my calcium. After two months the leg pain is a half a day. So I am hoping I will have no pain this month.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I will be sure I am taking my Calcium and Magnesium. The pain did go away after a few days. I hope the pain does not come back for you.

Bit late replying but I am on Ibrance, Letrozole and Denosumab injection. I have the injection every 3 months. I have pain in my ribs and an aching back usually around days 18-21. It passes. I always feel that whilst I have this slight discomfort it’s doing some work on the Mets. Could be physiological I don’t know but yes, I do have the same symptoms as you have. I had a break from Denosumab for 7 months due to ONJ and then again for 3 months due to Covid and not being allowed into the hospital. I really feel the benefit of the Denosumab when I do have it.
