End of third week into week off.

I would say the end of the third week into the week off. I have one eye that tears terribly and it’s quite annoying and no one knows what helps. I’ve tried all kinds of drops and it is still a problem. I’m also working full time and don’t miss a day. I need my medical coverage as you know how it goes. Anyone have tearing problems? Oh and did I mention the irratibility?

Yes, I have super dry eyes thus excessive tearing. Genteal makes an ointment for sensitive eyes - one for day and a "thicker" one for use at bedtime. I find if I use them consistently they do help. Irritability? Yeah but no answers there - which irritates me.

I am on Ibrance 100mg, faslodex and xgeva. Terribly itchy eyes and always tearing. Saw an eye Dr last week. Said my eyes were incredibly dry. Gave me Refresh omega eye drops, said to keep them in the frig. Use 4x day. Feels good and has helped. He said it's all about moisture. Good luck.

I too have dry eyes - left more than right. My ophthalmologist says it’s known that ibrance has a drying effect: mouth, eyes, skin. Apparently our eyes tear to combat that dryness. I’ve also bern given a salve to put in at night and Refresh drops during day. Hasn’t completely stopped but if I remember to use the drops, it really does help.

What is the name of the salve? So your eyes literally itch and tear?

The salve is a CVS brand (less expensive) and simply called “Lubricating Eye Ointment”. It’s also made by Alcon and called “Systane”, which comes in gel form as well as salve. I didn’t find the gel lubricated enough when I once tried it.

And yes, my eyes literally itch and tear. Mostly tear.

When I was on Faslodex my eyes got so bad I had to go an emergency clinic specifically for eyes. I had five lumps at the bottom of one eye and just moving my eye was hell. I am still on the eye medication which includes four months of antibiotic eye drops three days a month, artificial tears five times a day and a cream to rub into my eye before I go to bed. I have since stopped Faslodex (not because of problems but it was just a holding treatment to give me a rest between starting a different chemo. I think you need to see an eye specialist. I can't believe the difference the stuff the eye Dr gave me made. Best wishes with it.

I saw 2 eye doctors and no one seems to know anything. Although one eye doctor prescribed oral antibiotics and eye drops but I only did the drops. I don’t have bumps but they itch terribly and the left one just drips and drips and it’s just a nuisance.,Maybe I’ll go back for an appointment again. Seems like it’s worse at the end of the cycle of Ibrance.

I got oral antibiotics which did not help. The ones you drip into your eyes sting like hell but are really so much better.

It's mostly my left eye. Eye drops help soothe but the best thing for me is consistently taking high dose sea buckthorn. I use Nature's Best (online,UK). It is not cheap to buy but actually only works out at £2.50 per week which is well worth it to me. Sending hugs. Irritability? Meditation is the answer for me. It has brought my stress levels down from the ceiling to a place of calm and peace. xxx

Yes I have had watery eyes but never associated it with meds. I’m on Denosumab, Letrozole and Ibrance. Will ask my Oncologist next time I see him.

Yes, please - do ask. I’d love to hear what (s)he says. They’re all so different in the approach to treatment and side effects. Blows my mind.

Honestly my oncologist gives me no feedback on side effects. I mention things and he is only focused on treating my disease I guess the side effects are just too minimal for him to even deal with.

I’m sorry to hear that. Do you not have an oncology nurse you might ask?

I understand the prevalence of cancer is high and oncologists have their hands full but patients’ questions/concerns about their treatment is important.

I only see my oncologist after 3 monthly scans to get the results. I’m pretty much being treated otherwise by an oncology nurse, who “holds my hand” re everything else (diet, questions de side effects, how my mood is etc.). Don’t know what I’d do without her. We often discuss posts I read here to see if there’s something I might include in my plan.

Hope you can find someone else in the department to answer your questions. Perhaps if you ask the appointment secretary she’ll be able to tell you who else you might help. Glad you’ve found your way to this wonderful platform, where I’ve learned so much.

I'm no doctor but it seems to me if only 1 eye tears up, it can't be a side effect of chemo, most likely your tear duct is blocked... While in Faslodex+Ibrance, our main concern was to avoid/ameliorate peripheral neuropathy . Please do yourself a favor and research extensively how to do this. If/when you get it, your eyes issues will be the last of your worries. BTW, we get terrible eye sensibility to light, we use artificial tears to control it, good luck and may God bless.
