Pain

I am on ibrance, letrozole and bone strengthener that starts with D. My question I only get back pain when I'm out and about as soon as I lean on something the pain goes, also get pain in my arms if I stop myself from falling if bus stops suddenly but only lasts for seconds. Wondering could it be bone strengthener I have just started, the weather or something else. My last scan showed I was stable and have no pain the rest of the time, doesn't hurt when I do my weights or exercise ball

Hard to tell. We are each different in how our bodies react to individual drugs. For

me, letrozole was a killer. I could not function as muscle and bone pain were intense. But for my friend on Th e same protocol there was no problem. Discuss with your onc and give it some time, perhaps things will calm as your body adapts.

Interesting....

I think Zometa (similar to the one that starts w/ a D, I think) might cause some bone pain especially in the days following the infusion.

Plus, like 4thTimesTheCharm, I realized in retrospect that the Letrozole was causing me A LOT of pain in my knees. It got so bad that I had real difficulty getting up and down stairs and I brushed it off to age (57) and genes...My dad has very bad knees. But it cleared up after I switched from Letrozole to Faslodex, while remaining on the Ibrance and Zometa.

I hope you get it sorted out!

Best,

Lynn

I am now getting an additional injection of Xgeva (chemical name: denosumab) to strengthen my bones in addition to getting the falsodex (i have mets to the lungs also). They gave me an injection in the arm for that shot.

So far, I am not feeling any pain (but now I am on pain drugs). I was also told to take a calcium supplement with vitamin D to strengthen my bones. Now my pain specialist (1st time met last week for two hours). She has now put me on gabapentin. I have to start with one at night for a week, then two at night for two weeks, and then three at night going forward. It works better for me at night because it really does help with my sleep so for now I stopped the ambien. But once my body becomes used to it, it may stop working as well for sleep.

Hi, I am on the same drugs and asked my Oncologist about the increased pain I have. He said it is a combination of Both meds and Cancer. I also have some difficulty breathing when I walk. Especially when battling against the wind. My CT scan two weeks ago showed Cancer is stable so I can only take my Oncologists diagnosis on this.

Hope this helps

Hi Kiera! If u are referring to the denusomab (XGeva) shot. I had problems with bone pain and switched back to Zometa (Zolendronic acid) after less than 6 months. Never have pain with it. But it is a 20 min infusion vs a quick shot. 😀

Yeah that's the one I was talking about, used to be on zometa to denusomab as she said although I didnt have any progression in bone mets looked different so she wanted stronger bone strengthener

I had major muscle and joint pain on Letrozole. Doesn't happen with Ibrance and Faslodex. Just a few aches that improve with moving around.

was on Letrozole briefly with the mets diagnosis in July 2015. due to 'joint pain,' switched to Anastrozole 1mg end of 2015 or beginning of 2016; the onc thought it would trigger less joint pain, for this body. still have joint pain. having been an athlete, arthritis was going to be part of the JOurneY. Anastrozole and Ibrance have accelerated the joint/bone pain. notice the intensity when on Ibrance, particularly the low back; not sure why? for me, vitamin D and weight bearing exercise strengthen the bones. yoga, massage, chiropractic, and acupuncture alleviate the pain. DXA scans have indicated osteopenia since 2011.

I can't participate in any conversation at this point having decided to stop all meds, except maybe Xgeva (injection for bone health) and on March 1st to start a 90-day plant-based diet and exercise program as described at sq1.chrisbeatcancer.com/gofb.

I pray that God will relieve all of our suffering as per His plan.
