Faslodex/Ibrance combo

Hi All: Got bad news yesterday. I have MBC. Breast wounds are cancer related not from radiation. They will never heal. Waiting to see a surgeon if anything can be done. Also, after my start on Ibrance, immune lowered to 1.3. Have to wait a week to see if it goes up before I can start again. Still on Faslodex.

Anyone eventually acheived remission from this situation? (Assuming I can go back on Ibrance.)

Cheers, June S.

I’m sorry June that you have to join us. The first 6 months after diagnosis seem to be the worst. We are usually dealing with something related to the diagnosis like your breast wounds. For me it was two compressed discs due to lesions. Once the docs sort that and your medications out, then you can start returning to your new normal. Granted it’s not a normal we like as well as the old one, but it is tolerable and we try to live life to the fullest.

About remission, I was diagnosed about 18 months ago, achieved No Evidence of Disease 6 months later but now lesions on my hip and rib are showing up on scans again. We’ve changed my medications and I’ll have scans again in February to see if the change is helping. This disease goes up and down like a roller coaster! The cancer is always stronger than any medication they have been able to come up with, but the medications now are allowing us to have a much much longer life than previously and most of us are happy for that. It’s almost become a chronic disease.

Please let us know what they decide to do about your breast wounds. That doesn’t sound like it would be comfortable to live with and I would think they could do something to fix them...at least I hope so!

Hugs, Elaine

Thanks Elaine. Sorry to hear about your problems. I had that feeling also, that it is a roll coaster ride.

I have been told the wounds, one the size of a quarter and the other three smaller ones will never heal. They are even not sure surgery would be an option, but I haven't seen the surgeon yet. They don't want to create an even larger wound that would not heal, but we shall see.

Cheers, June S.

Thanks so much for the great support. It is informative and comforting. I do realise that each of us reacts differently depending on the path the diease takes. I love this forum. I will try to keep joining in as I progress.

June,

Welcome to the board. We are one big family. We cry and laugh with you. I have had some shrinkage in right lung and nodule in left lung (disappeared). I am considered stable. I am on Ibrance/Letrozole. I will start my 33rd month next week. I am on 125mg. My neutrophils stay low. The best to you. Blessings, Hannah

Hi 8675309!

They don’t call it remission (🤷‍♀️) they call it no evidence of disease with MBC...but yes my scan was no evidence of disease in May...having a scan next week but tumor marker numbers were still normal last week so hopefully no big surprises on scan...😀

All that to say you’ll be around a while so try to live normally and don’t be afraid to make plans for the future! 😀

Dear June: Very sorry to hear of your MBC diagnosis. I was diagnosed with MBC in 4/2019. Bone met in pelvis. Had SBRT then put on IBrance/Faslodex/Xgeva. Last week I was told NED. I will stay on this regime until it stops working & Cancer rears its ugly head again. Change treatments to combat that when it happens. We are all praying for a cure. The first 5 months were the hardest. Now I am living in the moment, thankful for each day. We share it all here, the good, the bad & the ugly! ❤️🙏❤️🌈

beast wounds maybe wont heal on their own. Mine got infected , tons of necrotic tissue. Surgeon took half the breast and then did a Latiismal dorci flap to promote healing. two years later i feel great ( you know except for the whole cancer thing). the flap side was a little sore today so i put some whole plant CBD on it. I tell you this so you will hope and keep looking for your solution.

Also hyperbaritic chamber is a geat option. My insurance was going to pay
