Hi Everyone,

I haven't dropped out of sight intentionally. My dad had a stroke about a month ago, followed by another one-two weeks ago. He is very up in age, is doing so so. I have two daughters ages 23 and 24. My 24-year-old was in the hospital Nov.3- to Nov. 11. She has epilepsy, had too many seizures in a 24 hour period. She is stable now. Meanwhile, I burn the candle at both ends and feel sick. I checked in with my doctor. Thank God I was and am stable, just the flu, drained. I have been laying low doing the basics last two weeks. Dad has no other children besides me so I have things to figure out for him but am taking slow and easy.

take care everyone and I will too

hugs,

Sue

Morning Sue,

I hope that things are starting to look up for you and your family. You have had quite a lot to cope with. It sounds like you could do with a break. Do you have a husband or partner who can help take some of the load off for you so that you can rest?

I understand what it's like being in sole charge of an ageing parent. Even though I am the youngest of three, my two older brothers have learning disabilities and autism, so my widowed dad relies on me a lot to help out with shopping, taking my brothers out, managing appointments and so on.

Take care,

Sophie

Hope you’re able to take the time you need to recoup yourself and that those ailing around you continue to improve. You all are an inspiration, such strength. I only have to care for me and get help doing that.

Hi Sue: Sorry you are going through so many difficult things with your loved ones plus trying to take care of yourself. Praying for wisdom and emotional/physical strength for you. I am the sole care taker for my mother who has dementia and it has been difficult to juggle my health & tending to her needs. ❤️🙏❤️

You and I are in the same boat. Dementia is a terrible disease! My mom has been my rock my whole life. It is very difficult to juggle our own health needs and care for an aging parent. I pray everyday for strength! Stay strong. We will find the strength to continue to care for our moms.

❤️🙏🏼💜

Being a primary caretaker is like running a marathon - please take time to take care of yourself and ask for help from others! Prayers headed your way.

Very true! Essential to rest

That's so tough Sue! It's almost a full time job dealing with our own wellbeing, let alone having to take care of urgent, serious problems with loved ones. Sending you prayers and good thoughts for strength and energy. You'll get through this! Hugs❤️

Hi Sue...so sorry to hear about your dad. I can relate! I am an only child and my mom lives with me and has dementia. She’s 82 and it’s heartbreaking to see how this horrible disease is taking over her life. She has been my rock my whole life, the best mom and the best grandma any kid can have. I have 2 boys 17 and 11. Although we have an aid that comes everyday to help take care of her I’m still the one responsible for her. Family members have suggested to put her in a nursing home. I cannot and will not do that. People think I’m not putting my health first but I am. I’m trying to keep her at home safe with us. I know I have a lot on my plate but everyday I pray for strength to be there for my mom till the end.

Sue take it one day at a time. Ask for help if you need it. I know we need to put our health first but we just cannot abandon our loved ones.

Best regards, Maria xx

Thank you, I did very little for two weeks--to relax, rest aside from some work.

Gosh Sue and all the others who are caretakers rather than being cared for yourselves. My heart goes out to you. Here in Panama City, we have Council on Aging. They provide free respite care for folks taking care of dementia patients. It really is a great thing. They sing, do crafts, eat and socialize. See if they have something similar where you live. It would give you a break. It is just a day program. Blessings Hannah

What a load you're carrying on your shoulders.

I think 'slow and steady' should be your motto from now on, not just till you get over the flu!

Hard as it will be, you must put your health first. You cant support others if youre not well.

I wish you all the very best.

Xx

My wishes for strength are winging to you. The flu is bad enough to have without having so many must do chores on your shoulders. Enjoy the time out that you’ve taken and remember to take a couple of days off now and then so you don’t burn out or get sick. Hugs, Elaine
