Terrible cold - can’t shake it off...

I’m suffering my first cold since being treated for MBC and on treatment - palbociclib, letrozole, adcal & Denosumab injection.

I had this terrible cold for a week now and I’m not feeling much better. I have a constant headache and feel so weak.

I’m due my four weekly blood test on Monday and hopefully next lot of treatment on Tuesday. I don’t want any delays....

Any tips, ideas to try and shake this off.

Thanks

Jo

Hi Jo,

Sorry to hear you are dealing with a cold. I developed a cold on 31st October (my dad and brother passed it on to me and also my husband!) We are both over it now. After a week you should at least be starting to feel a little better. I have been taking liposomal vitamin C (15ml sachet each day stirred into a pint of water) and I think that really helped, as I perked up right away. I also had a couple of hot toddies, loaded up on over the counter cold medicines and did my best to stay well hydrated. I would take some painkillers for your headache, as it's never easy to function with a headache. Getting plenty of rest will also help. When my cold first developed I slept for over 11 hours, which is unusual for me, but it really helped!

I hope you feel better soon,

Hi Sophie

Thanks for the info. Can you share the amazon link for liposomal vitamin C? is it a packet or capsule? There are so many brands and forms. Thank you so much!

Hi Jack,

I'll take a picture and start a new post here in a bit so you can see what it looks like.

I got a cold after my breast reconstruction surgery and I was not taken my supplements due to surgery. I was sick for 2 weeks and I finally decided to go the primary doctor and she give me antibiotics and allergies pills and I fell better after a few days. Also I start taking my supplements. You can drink garlic tea with ginger and cinnamon. It doesn't taste great but it does help with cough.

Are you dehydrated.

I recently had food poisoning and found out that I was dehydrated which happens to us with low white counts. It takes longer to recuperate from anything. Call your oncologist

I’ve had a horrible cold for the last 3 weeks which has given me post nasal drip and a cough that makes me sound like a 90 year old habitual smoker. I’ve seen the gp and my chest is clear. I’ve been using a saline nasal wash twice a day which is uncomfortable but clears my sinuses. I’m also having a teaspoon of liquid honey 3 times a day. Drinking plenty too to stay hydrated. Also taking a modern antihistamine to reduce swelling in the sinuses.

Had my bloods done last week and they were really good. Nurse said it was a reaction to the cold.
