Slight fever every day?

Hi everyone!

It's so great to have a supportive community that understands exactly what I'm going through. Thank you all! I am on 125 mg of Ibrance, Letrozole, and Zoladex. For the last 2 weeks, I wake up feeling good, but develop a fever of aroun 99-100 degrees every day between 8 and 10 and feel crappy. I have had a cold for a week or so that I can't shake, but was wondering if anyone else has this going on? I also have terrible hot flashes and night sweats - but those are expected.

Keep fighting, everyone!

Thank you,

Alana

Ditto. I was told to call for any fever @ or above 100.0 & given business card stating stage 4 cancer patient on Ibrance-please direct admit (bypass exposure waiting in ER) & for them to use isolation room (dunno wat that means-just private room, etc)

But now my new onc in California didn’t concur/nor comment in my ? Omg of that here in calif? Also my Ibrance educator nurse practitioner ordered comparing & Ativan pen & said to take it to sleep, for nausea etc.

Does anyone’s INC order Ativan and or Ambien or do you have to see psychiatrist (which I almost refuse to do that)—sorry I asked this ? In another thread!

Wish you to feel better/rest and fluids and Vit C and sunshine and Tylenol—may help.

I take Ambien. No psychiatrist involved. Dr. Gives me a prescription.

Very simple.

Ambien is not a controlled substance. I get 30 1 mgs. in NY with three refills. Xanax is a whole different story. It is a controlled substance, cannot be written with any refills and you have to find a medical psychiatrist to write them. No primary doctors will write xanax and certainly not an oncologist. And forget about opiods in NY. Doctors are too terrified to write them bc of the govt. laws. My cancer center prides itself on being a non-opiod environment. Even many pain management clinics here in Brooklyn have on their website NO OPIATES prescribed. Luckily, I am not in pain at this time.

I feel like you should call your onc and team and let them know.

It may be just a cold but you want to prevent any problems down the road.

I would call oncologist. I had same symptoms last year. My husband just had brain surgery, I had just started Afinitor, thought sweats, low fever. Lousy feeling was due to stress, new meds etc. But when husband came home I was weaker everyday until he made me go to ER. Well I was walking around with pneumonia. Week in hospital and months to feel stronger. Now if I have fever of 100 I call doctor.

All these meds lower white blood count and immune system. Don't take a chance a phone call takes a minute. We are not as strong as other people even if we don't like to hear it.

Hope it is nothing😉😉

I would definitely call my oncologist also. Did you go back to teaching? Could it be a stress reaction to that? Have you had to delay your Ibrance because of your neutrophil count? Lots of questions! Hot flashes and night sweats can really interfere with your sleep, so are you getting enough sleep? There is medication that helps with that. I hope you find an answer! Elaine

Thank you all for the response. I have returned to teaching full time, and my immune system definitely isn't what it used to be. I see my onc Thursday to get the results of my latest scan, so I'll talk to him about it. My neutrophils have been good (1.3), so we'll see.

How strange to get a temp at certain times of the day - I've never heard of that before. If your neutrophils are 1.3, whilst they're ok for the chemo/Ibrance, they're still below 1.5 so you're still at higher risk of infection. It's obviously your call but I wouldn't wait. I was ill and waited until my Onc appointment and I got my wrist slapped and told I should have phoned the emergency number I had been given. It's a faff isn't it but better to be safe. You take care. Josie xx
