Biopsy results

I had my monthly treatments and i know my biopsy results. It tested positive for breast cancer in my axillary lymph node. I will be having radiation for 5 weeks every day because of soft tissue. The radiation doctor says it was caught in time where it is not large (1.7cm). I have changed treatments from falsodex to femara. My doc wants to see how the radiation and femara does, he will do a scan in 3 months. If no change i will be taking kiqauil chemo pill. Can someone tell me anything about femara. When is the best time to take it? What are the side effects? Thank you

Glad it's early and radiation will probably zap it. i was on letrozole for almost a year. Not to discourage you, but I had a lot of joint discomfort. Not sure there is a best time of day to take it However, I was determined to swallow that pill if it worked. I had some progression, so was switched to faslodex. Good luck with your treatment

Thank you, the pill bottle says in the morning and may cause dizziness. I compute to work early in the morning, didn't want to fall asleep while driving. I did handle joint pain with falsodex but this is something new. It's 2.5mg.

I don’t recall feeling dizzy but then I think all these drugs can do that. I prefer faslodex even tho the shots are a literal pain in the a$$

Thank you, I will take it in the morning and hope I can handle joint pain and hot flashes along with night sweats. Like you I can take this forever as long as it works.

I’m probably the oddball here but I loved being on Femara. It was my first and only therapy for the first 14 months after I was diagnosed with bone and liver mets. It dropped my CA 15-3 marker from over 900 to 18 in 3 months and kept it stable for many months. I was 62 when I started and never had issues with hot flashes or joint pain. I take 500mg of glucosamine sulphate daily and avoid nightshade vegetables because they aggravated my arthritis in the past. I also do tai chi and have been able to stay active which I think helps too. Never felt dizzy or other side effects. I wish the same for you!

I’ve been on letrozole almost 2 years now , I take it at 10 pm. I do get joint pain and discomfort, but I joined yoga and it really helps. I have noticed more I exercise less discomfort I get.

Has anyone tried other supplements for joint health support like turmeric?

Have not tried , but I read that in order to notice a difference we have to eat kgs of Turmeric , so I don’t know ... have you ?

Yes, there are many challenges with turmeric absorption so this may be why. Research has found that forms with BioPerine absorb better, and then hydro-soluble forms absorb even better than those with BioPerine (black pepper).

I was on femara for 5 years after my initial dx following my chemo, mastectomy and radiation.

I found it better to take it at night. My side effects were fatigue and achy joints. I found if I excercised by walking it helped alleviate the aches.

Good luck with your treatment. Femara has been found to be very effective as has radiation.
