New treatment just approved by the FDA

I just returned from seeing Dr. Khong at Moffitt Cancer Center. My check-up was good. I had a small amount of shrinkage and no growth.

The exciting thing is there is a new treatment after Ibrance. It is a combination of Fulvestrant plus Alpelisib. It was just approved by the FDA this past May.

I am continuing with Ibrance as long as it works.

Thanks for the info Hannah. I also went to Moffitt for a second opinion and was very pleased with their care there. They gave me the name of an oncologist that I have been seeing in Orlando who is wonderful. I had a terrible doc to begin with and they could tell that I needed someone with more experience. I feel good knowing the Moffitt Center is there for us.

Did you by chance go to Dr. Khong? I really like him. I should be in the Senior Adult Center at Moffitt, but refused to because I wanted Dr. Khong. I like him a lot.

No, I saw a young female doc who had not been there long. She had a nurse that had worked in Orlando for about 20 years and they understood how bad my original oncologist was. The nurse gave me the name of Dr. Shah who is in charge of breast cancer at Orlando Health and recommended her. Although it is not a long drive to Moffitt they knew in the beginning that I needed someone good closer to home. Dr. Shah has been wonderful but I would not hesitate to go back to Moffiitt if I thought it necessary. Right now I am on Kisqali, Letrozole, and Xgeva and bone mets are decreasing and markers reducing so I'll stay this course for as long as it is working.

I am still on Ibrance. I asked the oncologist where I would go when Ibrance stopped working for me. The drug was just approved in May in combination with Fulvestrant (which has been around for a while). Blessings, Hannah

I was diagnosed in Nov 2018 and delayed taking the kisqali until I finished 10 rounds of radiation to the hips, so I started all three in Jan. 2019 so not for long.
