Morning everyone just a quick question is anyone else taking Berberine as a supplement? I have just started taking it but a little cautious as I haven’t been to the COC team yet. It doesn’t look like it would interfere with palbociclib and letrozole but it would be great to get your opinions.

Hi Anne,

I have been taking berberine for about a month, one 500mg tablet a day. It does not interfere with letrozole, but I don't know about ibrance, as I am not on that.

Thank you, I have started 1500 a day as per Jane’s book but wondering if I should wait. It’s a complete mind...k🙄

I started out on 500mg for about a week and was fine. Then I increased to 1500mg and suffered from constipation for a day, so I came back off it again and am now only taking 500mg. I couldn't tolerate the higher dose. I am also on the COC protocol, as you know.

Morning

I am also reading Jane' s book but so far my only action has been to reach out to COC ( they were super quick answering my first enquiry ( ie: same day) but not heard back since I sent my medical file last Wednesday)... However to speed things up I have decided to seek early clearance for interaction with treatment with the medicine information team at my hospital ( Royal Marsden) . It is a bit long ( 2/3 weeks because of the number of medicine involved) but everything is checked by the team. It is quite an easy process ( just an email to them with your treatment and what you are looking at supplementing your treatment, can be a link to a website or a picture of the product)... May be your hospital has a similar service? I appreciate this might be seen as over the top by most but I have decided that I was not quite ready ( or expert enough yet) to take matters totally in my own hands at the back of a book ... Yes, I am a bit of a chicken!😂... I am sure as things move on I will probably become more and more Maverick like in my approach so!.

Hi, I asked at the Marsden hospital in London about Berberine and they said no... Of course I'd already bought it! Gill x

I have been taking it. Started at 500mg to make sure no problems then increased to 1000mg. I don't see it having much impact though on my glucose level. COC does not deal with any drugs other than the four they offer.

I’ve been on berberine for 3 years. No side effects. All the drs are okay with it.
