Breast implant associated small cell lymphoma!

I am wondering if anyone is confronted with this. I had a saline implant post mastectomy in 2012. I received a letter from my plastic surgeon stating that the FDA has put out new data stating that the texture of the implant, saline and silicone can lead to this new cancer which is not related to breast cancer. Symptoms are pain, swelling or lumps around the implant area or underarm. The occurrence usually starts 7-10 years post surgery! I went for my consult today and am considering removing my implant but I am worried how the surgery will impact on my treatment with ibrance and faslodex and if I should do the removal and take a wait and see approach. Just disturbed by all this ! Anyone else received this info from their plastic surgeons?

If I was you I would have the implant removed..just my opinion

I’ve had a general anaesthetic and a vertebraplasty done and didn’t have to interrupt the Ibrance..just carried on as normal...had no problem with infection..you’ll be given antibiotics anyway so I wouldn’t worry..you’ll be in a hospital environment and be monitored

I did not have any reconstructive surgery but if there is the slightest chance of cancer from implants I would have them removed.

You can get great mastectomy bras and prosthetics that you insert into the bra and no one can tell they are fake boobs. Matter of fact mine look better than my originals

You can also change cup sizes with prosthetics as you wish!
