Bad luck

So here is my sagaafor today. On the way down the stairs to go to my 8th treatment I. Fell and broke my ankle. May need surgery but my neutrophils are down to 500 and orthopedic will need to contact all my doctors to see if he can do surgery. I am more worried about missing the treatment. She said after this week and next I would go off for 3 weeks to build up blood and stop some side effects.

But I will get through it could have been worse.

Hope everyone is doing well.

No I am lucky so far no pain if I keep it still. Just hope doctor on Monday does not say surgery. My neutrophils are at 500. He will have to wait. I just want to let it heal even if it is a little off rather than re break in 2 months and then start healing again. Will see Monday.

Oh I am so sorry. I had a double knee replacement one year after I finished my chem. It was not easy but I had just remind myself one day at a time. I can see why you are worried about your white blood count. I am praying for your recovery from your broken ankle. ❤️❤️

Oh I am so sorry. Isolation can make you batty. I have been home just about for a month because of thi bronchitis. Just going to the store for food makes me feel like I am going to a cotillion. The way I combat it is staying connected to people by phone not just by text cause the text doesn’t do as good. I am retired and am home during the day and evening. Is there a time you would like to talk on the phone maybe we can share information or talk about good books to read. Lol. And if you are a Democrat there is a wealth of topics. My phone number is 443-415-3208 and if you want to do that send me yours and good times to call and I will so at least you won’t be totally isolated

All the best

Morning Barbara,

I am so sorry to hear that. Are you in any pain or is that all under control? Can you have your next treatment from your hospital bed if you have to be hospitalised? That would be my worry too. I would hate to miss one of my scheduled appointments.

Take care,

Sophie ❤

I had one treatment set for yesterday and next week would complete third full cycle. I left a message for her to call me tonight hoping she can double dose next week complete the cycle. Then she wants to stop chemo for 3 weeks until side effects subside then continue.we will see, my tumor markers both dropped over 400 points in 4 weeks I want to continue. She said we will do petscan after chemo is finished. I so would like to go into remission for a while.

Just hope he says he can reset without surgery. They will not allow that now. And I will have to start healing all over again. Just want to get out of this chair and I am not good with crutches.

Sometimes it seems there is no luck except bad luck! Wow ‘. I am so sorry this mishap is yours! I will pray fir your counts to come up and your break not need surgery. And I don’t wear shoes or socks in your house. I took to understanding I needed to feel each step! I have fallen and broken my foot and too many other injuries to date! Now I even count my steps! Food for thought going forward.

I fell down my stairs because of just having socks on..fortunately didn’t damage anything a part from my pride ..I’m a Calamity Jane anyway so stuff happens to me whatever I do so I just do whatever I want as I think ‘feeling fragile ‘ almost tempts fate?!

What awful bad luck. More healing prayers winging its way to you. Your misfortune will teach me a lesson. I am always being told to slow down and yet it’s one of my biggest fears breaking an ankle or leg. I too would be useless on crutches and living in a town house where I have to go down 3 flights of stairs to the kitchen, plus living alone, I would be in a right pickle!

Hoping you remain pain free and will pray your bloods improve for treatment.

Wow, Barbara--so sorry to read about your tumble. I hope that you will recover quickly and that you aren't in a lot of pain. Also hope you have a stylin' bootie to keep you immobilized! I fractured an ankle some years ago (obviously not as serious as yours, with your condition and the new chemo regimen) and it was right on the borderline of needing surgery, which i ultimately did, involving a metal plate and six screws--but my ortho said it probably would heal OK without the surgery, too. Whatever you choose, I hope it goes well--and I hope you can resume your chemo, which it seems has been going amazingly well. Hang in there and fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!

That's what I am hoping, just snap it back in place. I will promise to stay off my feet. I just want to get back to my chemo.

I am very lucky to have family to take care of me. But it is so hard when you can't do things for yourself. I just tell myself I was lucky I did not break my bad arm that has a lot of cancer, or hit my head.

Gets me through the day. People have bigger problems than me.

We will see Monday.

So sorry you had the accident. Here in Maine ice is having a big year of

tricking people into falls! I sure hope your ankle heals in place without

needing surgery. And I hope you will be sure to sand before you venture,

henceforth. Hard lessons preclude future mishaps. Hope to hear you

have good verdict Monday. Sending best wishes. \

with cleats on them, I can slip into. A nuisance, but at least no skids.)

I am so sorry to hear about your ankle, Barbara. Why does something else have to happen?! There must be a reason - may be you need to slow down for a while. Your doctors will take good care of you and you will get back to the chemo treatment. Hang in there and take it easy!
