I started my first treatment last Thursday with Xeloda, I had to have an echo and ekg. Told me that its one that affects the heart. Still on the zometa too. Supposed to get a scan in 3 months so we will see. Had port put in Wednesday and a ct scan. The new oncologists said he didn't see the cancer in liver and the tech doing the echo couldn't see it either, but MD Anderson did a biopsy so its there....darn it....Hang in there Kit5

We try no to be political on this site. Please do not bring any more negative comments about the outside world to us as we use this site only to support each other in good and bad personal news and questions. By making these type comments, many will pull out of communication and that is sad to put others in that situation.The Trump comment is out of place here no matter how one feels about politics or personalities. Please be more considerate in the future postings. This is not the forum for personal political commentary. We are about each other nit just ourselves.

in reply to blms

Let’s not take ourselves too seriously please. I know what you mean but it was clearly a joke. A little levity is always welcome.

Marthasvineyard,

Sorry but this is NO place for "joking about politics". I think your comment was insensitive and totally out of place. THIS is a site to support your sisters and brothers going through a difficult time NOT for sarcastic comments that belong somewhere else. Your levitity is the lowest form of flattery-how is that supportive of anyone other than yourself. It may be appreciated by some but not by all nor is it welcome here in this regard. Try to think of others not just your selfish opinions. It is offensive. Did you consider anyone other than yourself? I do not think so. I was kind in my last critism, not in this one. I believe I have been very supportive to many on this site. Now I feel like I never want to comment to help others here because of you insisting on continuing this out of place, sarcastic political discord. Seriously???!!!

marthasvineyard - sorry you are taking the heat for my "joke"... blms - i posted that joke. i meant it for my online friend jaxon2007. i'll try to figure out how to make it so you don't need to see anything i write. Kit / no apology necessary. We all come to this site for support, not scolding. Focus on the members who lift you up rather than the occasional cranky pants.

oh gosh, I just saw this and thank you so much.....it made me laugh and you all know as well as I do that laughing is a rareity....I was taken off Xeloda and put on Halaven, that's why I lost my hair....last scan showed NO PROGRESSION,, so I'm going to take that as good news. I was told the cancer showing in my chest cavity has always been there, guess its not growing...I went thru the airport scanner leaving Amarillo, went to Houston, did the radiation on my pelvic and hip, flying back to Amarillo from Bush, going thru the detector and I lit up......we all had a chuckle about that...Thank you again Kit for making me smile... My status is stage 4, Terminable :{

I just finished my 7th or 8th round of Xeloda and will have scans next week. I can already feel the scanxiety coming on. I feel really good so I hope that is a good sign. My feet bug the hell out of me and are calloused and peeling and God forbid I have to wear a pump for work, I am really hurting at the end of the day. Nothing on the hands, they just feel really slick and like the skin on the palms has shrunk. I keep my feel really moisturized but they are the biggest problem. They don't really stop me from doing what I want to but it's still bothersome. Any good tips?

Glad you have other options. And glad you are out hiking. I am keeping up my workouts and it makes me feel "normal".

Cream cream and more cream- my feet are a dry cracked mess all the time - I’m lucky to be able to wear soft socks and Birkenstock’s!!! My hands too -tight and slick until they crack and peel- avoid doing dishes- throw everything in the dishwasher!! Got to love side effects from xeloda!!!! Been on it since 2016-

Thanks Kit. Merry Christmas!!

Good luck and happy hiking. Every oncologist seems to have different ideas. Xeloda eventually showed progression to my liver lesion so I was put on Nabelbine for a few months then Faslodex and now who knows - seems likely to be IV chemo but so much depends on what new things turn up - and whether we are able to access them here in South Africa.

Just enjoy your Christmas

I'm responding for my sister, Heidi, she has had two treatments with Xeloda and one zometa, after the second treatment her hair came out in clomps so she shaved her head. Prior to second treatment her WBC was 1 but oncolonist still proceeded with treatment. Well, a couple nights later she developed a fever of 102 so to the ER we went. Stayed in hospital 3 days, WBC up to 3.7, and she was given granix. Go back January 3rd, to see Dr. and another Xeloda treatment. Hope to get a scan in February. She still has it stuck in her head that she only has 1 year left, thanks to the wonderful people, and I'm "saying" that sarcastically at Texas Oncology in Amarillo Texas, keep up the fight, prayers with you...

My sister has had 3 treatments of xeloda, her markers were 35 in October and now they are 19, her liver has shrunk, meaning tumors shrinking,, keep praying. Hope it keeps working for her, she is bald now. Has been after the second treatment....

well i think we can take that as a check in the win column? freaking cancer. it really is the emperor of all maladies. all i can say is that when i am having a pity party, i think of my sisters fighting and i dig up the strength to keep going. one day at a time. it is all each of us have - even people who don't have cancer. give your sister a hug for me. you are kind to keep up with her people online:)

My sister had an x-ray this morning, Dr. wanting to see if her bones in her leg has holes in it??? He didn't really explain anything so she doesn't know what he's looking for now. It gives me some comfort to chat with you brave warriors, I try to keep positive and you guys help.
