I never liked smoking either cigarettes or marijuana. It’s not political or judgmental. I just like smoke. Nor do I like edibles which take too long to metabolize and don’t taste good to me. Has anyone tried a CBD patch? I’d prefer no THC. Does it help?
My state should open dispensaries in the next 2 months.
I am wondering the same thing. I live in Canada and it has been legalized here. I am going to ask my oncologist if it will help with side effects. Would live something to help my fatigue.
Helps with appetite and anxiety. “Takes the edge off”. Although this opinion is based on thc/cbd combo. There are capsules and edibles that take about 90 min average to kick in. Eat something small with it to facilitate—iE sandwich.
Can you recommend any brand of capsules or do I just ask at a store? While I am waiting for MA to get its act together, it would be nice if I can order some online.
I think they vary. There is one that comes in a blue package. It says it’s for “mind” or “body”. It just means it’s either an indica or sativa strain. Indica is known more for being a couch buzz. And it is more likely to give you munchies. Sativa is more the mind giving an uplifting buzz. They also sell hybrids which are half and half. You’ll feel differences. I've used a cream on my sore knees and it seems to help. No THC, just CBD.
I tried over the counter, in Maryland, CBD mixed with olive oil. It says to take two droppers bid but it does not do much for back pain. Now, my back pain, severe, does not seem to be caused by cancer, but all the same. I was told that the kind you can just buy is not strong enough. That certainly is my experience this past month. Maybe nothing will really work until I get an epidural but I am headed to Las Vegas for a business trip and I will see what they have to offer for pain, etc. I'll ask a lot of questions and get back to you in a week.

I have never smoked or used drugs but I am using CBD oil 3 times daily and THC oil at night to help me sleep. In Canada, I was able to go to a cannabis clinic where a medical doctor reviewed my medical records and then prescribed the oils and dosage. It has helped me with stiffness, feelings of anxiety, etc. One of the doctors on my oncology team had prescribed a narcotic drug to help me sleep. It was horrible....I woke up drowsy and all day long felt 'out of it!' Lol....NEVER again. Then my family doctor prescribed an anti-inflammatory drug but that is hard on the stomach so that's why I went the cannabis route and it has helped tremendously.

Yes, definitely get a solid sleep. As you said, it’s gone by AM depending on the milligrams ingested. Smoke or vape will go through the system quickest. The edibles or capsules will linger. But, still gone by morning.
I have not heard of the patch but you can get a tincture which you drop under your tongue. I think you can find them with very little THC. I live in CA so its quite popular out here. My mother in law uses it in a lotion for arthritis and we give it to our dog for her arthritis and it really seems to help. I am considering it to help with my anxiety.
In South Africa it is not yet approved - and may take for ever too! However I have been told by a local herbalist who produces his own highly thought-of CBD oil that 2 drops under the tongue is the best way to take it. He suggests use for nausea and fatigue side effects of chemo as well as stiffness in knees etc so may contact him if I get that far. I have met a number of folk who have used his product with quite good results.
My gynocologist has told me that she believes that medical marijuana can help with cancer pain and I have talked iwth some mbc patients who agree. I've not had pain myself and haven't explored this. But I did stop at a mm dispensary several years ago and spoke ith an RN there who said that for pain, edible works best. They prepared a butter--I assume that means mm mixed with butter that they recommended using to make cookies or brownies. That is all I know plus the law here in MI seems to make it easier for pot heads to get mm and harder for cancer patients. We have to know where we will buy it when we apply for a mm card and that is not easily found......crazy
I hear you about the crazy system. Legal medical marijuana has been available in MA for a few years with a prescription. But they script does not tell a patient what the right dosage or delivery vehicle is. The government bureaucrats have stalled the legal recreational drugs out of a grudging Puritan reaction IMHO. :). I've been using cbd oil for a couple of months now. I'e noticed it helps with anxiety and sleep. CBD is legal to buy and sell online and in person. Cbd does not have the in it - the thc is what gets you high. CBD can be ingested as an oil, taken as a cream for pain (I've tried it and it felt a miracle!), as an isolate (powder dissolved under your tongue so you feel the effect more immediately). I haven't taken cbd pills, but I ave vaped from the pen. While in La Jolla, CA tithe National Breast Cancer Coalition, I found a CBD shop called Pure Spectrum and they told me how their hemp is organic (not all hemp is organic) and controlled by the government - that impressed me and now I buy only from them. I'm sorry to say Pure Spectrum doesn't sell capsules. The tincture goes under your tongue and tastes like coconut oil because that's what it's dissolved in.
