Ibrance Wait Time

Does anybody take Ibrance as prescribed? After 4 months at 125 dose my Dr dropped me down to the 100 dose as my neutrophils would drop to 0.3 each month and it would take three weeks off for them to come back into normal range. After one month at 100 dose my neutrophils only dropped to 1.2 but my platelets are really low. I’m wondering if anybody can actually take this for the 3 weeks on, 1 week off.

Hello

I only took 2 weeks of high dose Ibrance..stopped for 3 weeks and now just finished first cycle of 100mg..I feel ok but will see if wbc drops again..I did have some strange bruising which has now disappeared so I wonder if platelets low..will soon know

Apparently from what I’ve read..the 75 mg dose works just as well so I wonder why we’re not all on that dose?

Hi, Barb. I also had that strange bruising this past month as well; sort of localized along my right arm. And I also wondered if it was due to low platelets, although mine are still in the normal range, at 246. I take warfarin due to blood clots found in my left leg when my cancer treatment began in December, so I also wondered if my dosage was too high, making my blood too thin. But the bruising has disappeared over the course of this week. Everything's such a puzzle, isn't it? XO Linda

My platelets have really dropped on the 100 mg dose while they weren’t as low with the 125mg. Might just be a coincidence.

May not be the dosage but the time on the drug altogether

I’ve been taking 125 mg of Ibrance for 2 1/2 years and only once have I delayed treatment for a week. My platelets are normal and my neutrophils range from .7 and 1.2

Hi Sarcie, I’ve been on 100 mg for 24 months after starting with 125 for 3 (made me dizzy). My neutrophils live at .8, and platelets at about 110 most months. My doctor is not overly concerned with my levels. I’m living a pretty normal life—traveling, exercising, and eating uncooked food.... Hoping you’re stable now. The reward of sticking with it is being declared NED (for an extended while)

in reply to Buffwright

My doctor really stresses staying above 1.5 so he won’t let me start my next month treatments until they hit his approved level which has been three weeks each month. I just feel I’m not getting the full effect of the Ibrance if o have to wait so long each month.

Hi, Sarcie!

I started out at 125mg but had mine lowered to 100 mg after about 5 months. WBCs still low but not as low as they had been so I've been on that lower dose for past 3 months. And yes, I've heard that the 75mg dose is "supposedly" just as effective. It does make you wonder why anyone takes the higher dose if a lower dose works as well. I need to remember to ask my onc about that next month.

Good luck with the lower dosage! XO Linda

I am on cycle 21 of Ibrance 125mg and have never had to postpone a cycle. I only recently realized that this is not the norm...

I think you are one of the few which is great for you. The higher dose did show some improvement in my bone Mets but not taking it in schedule really worries me that I’m not getting the full benefits. Just another thing to worry about.

I'm sorry. I understand what you mean about being concerned that you have to keep postponing taking the Ibrance. It seems like it would make sense for your doctor to lower your dosage to 75mg and see how you do on it. I have heard of many women on 75mg and doing well.

Thanks. I was hoping that he 100 mg would be good. My neutrophils did stay at 1.2 instead of 0.3 but this time my platelets are really low. Just can’t seem to win.

Hi Sarcie

My oncologist told me that she has only one patient who tolerates the 125 mg Ibrance..her other patients are on 100 or 75 mg

That sort of cheers me up..the lower doses are allegedly as effective

Georgetown doctor says same thing--only 2 patients that can tolerate the 125 dosage and most on 100mgs.

I do take 125mg, Ibrance and have done so for 3 months. I take it the full 21 days, my white blood cells have been 1.7, which is considered low, but my doctor has not dropped me down so far. Kathy

Mine drop to 0.3

Got my blood work today, it was 2.4, but my doc is now dropping me to 100 mg because she wants to see if I can maintain the higher white count on the lower dosage. I do feel good and I trust her and her great intelligence. We will see how I do! Fingers crossed❤️

I have been on Ibrance and Letrozole for three years. I started out on the 125, then 100 and now the 75 mg dose. My ANC hovers around 0.9-1.2. I have not had any issues with hemoglobin or platelets. Praying you find the right mix as it has proven to be effective for some patients.

Yes, I took Ibrance 125mg as prescribed for over 3 years, and it kept me disease free. Just now was diagnosed with recurrence in my spine. I think it was a wonder drug.
