Can Faslodex cause flare ups?

Hope everyone here had a great weekend. I’m really feeling tired on Faslodex? Did anyone else have this? I’m sure it’s the combination of cancer and Faslodex. I think the mind plays tricks because before I new the cancer had returned I was not tired. I’m hoping just flare ups causing this and not more cancer. I always worry when I get tired more than normal. Thanks for reading...

Hey there, been on it 4 cycles now. I just had the iron issue which started mild before folsadex but then it went to 25 on folsadex (should be at least 50). I was tired and achy. Doctor told me to take 325 mg of iron and I felt better overnight. Supplement with it daily now.

Hi Claire

I get my faslodex shot every 30 days and it has a pattern of about a week later I get overwhelmed with chills( can’t warm up) / extreme fatigue ( more than normal ) I just plan on that time frame to rest more. After the 24-36 hours I’m back to normal tiredness 🤪

Hope this helps

Hey, yeah I figured it was that. I’m getting my double dose for 2 straight weeks. I get last one tomorrow. I then go for once a month.

I’m on Faslodex and Ibrance. I’m exhausted. I have found that napping as needed helps, but I’m starting to see the light exercise helps as well. I mostly walk, on my better days. Good luck.

Clair, I have been on Faslodex and Ibrance for 6 months now. I seem to feel less tired than with letrozol and Ibrance. My markers s have gone down a little last mont. hope they are even better this month.

I got over 9 years from Faslodex! I do remember, though, that the first few months that I was on it, I often needed a nap the day I got it and sometimes the next day, too. I have not been a nappy person except when sick before that. I generally felt pretty good until about the last two years......I've been dealing with mbc for a bit over 14 years now, have developed some other unrelated health issues as well as a breathing problem that I blame on Ibrance. I found Faslodex pretty easy to be on and one of the things I really liked about it was not having a daily cancer pill to remind me that I'm a cancer patient. Several of my local support group friends also had good results with Faslodex, so I started it with high expectations and was never disappointed. Now I think that my age (72) and all this time with cancer and cancer treatment is catching up with me. Fatigue is my biggest issue now though I still shower and dress every day, cook dinner at least half the days, do our grocery shopping and laundry and walk the dogs. Fatigue is relative, lol, and I can still do quite a bit just not like I did when I was younger and the medical issues hadn't piled up! I fell on the ice a few years ago and had 3 fractures in my ankle, had to be off that foot for around 3 months and lost alot of muscle tone during that time. My gait and balance are still off, I have to have custom orthotics and shoes with extra support and I can't run anymore. Back to Faslodex--be sure to drink plenty of water, especially the day before, day of and day after. Take the weight off the hip being injected and ask the nurse to inject it super slowly--it should take about 3 minutes per injection. It also helps to warm up the stuff--hold it in your hand or put it in your arm pit for a few minutes if it is right out of the fridge. It also helps if you have a bit of extra "fluff" where it is being injected--I think slender women tend to have more site problems than those of us with a bit of extra weight.
