Finally! Has everyone heard the news!

According to the news tonight a cure is right now coming out for us! It’s a one time infusion that you take and your own body fights the tumors. Dr John Sanika said he has never seen anything like this. It’s not target therapy. He said biggest break through he’s seen. Still in trails but the president is to sign a bill to move it out of trail stage. I know everyone is excited. Look up new trails for mbc. They did not have a name yet . Sorry I just heard this and please forgive me if I sound crazy...

Now I just have to live long enough to get this treatment. I hope that they rush this thru and cure us all!!! Do we dare hope? It would be like merging from a nightmare to be told “you are cancer free!” 🙏🙏🙏💫😂

I’ve seen some things come through quickly. My liver meds completed a trial in feb 2016 and was approved May 2016. Look how fast Ibrance got pushed. My only hesitation would be if this is seen as a threat to pharmaceutical profits. But, that’s just skeptics.

With 1 in 8 getting BC, everyone knows someone...so, that will hopefully expedite approval.

I think with the convention this last week they have been under pressure to make it happen! It’s about time they are paying attention to all stage 4 cancers. But this is for us, let’s pray they get it out of trails now! Just think it could change so many of our lives. Let’s pray tonight we get some great news in the weeks to come. 👍😁🙏❤️

Glad your Neutrophils are strong! Continue to stay healthy, Vitamin C infusion that sounds like it would help with infection. Congrats on your blood work..

You will! Read my post, we can get the ball rolling. Stay strong it’s our time I can feel it!!

I’m with you! I’ve shared the article w like 10 people already. I’m surprised other MBC and even stage 2 weren’t aware. I’m like “this is HUGE! This answers when I’ve adked myself ‘why me?” Because there is a cure coming!

Of course, I know the question is wrong but you get what I mean?! 🎉🎊 I’m more than just hopeful now!

My sister in-law has said from the beginning a cure was coming she felt it. Not because I have it but she works in a huge lab and sees so much going on. I do believe they or who ever the medical world knows more than they let on. I don’t know why but just a gut feeling.

I wonder if this is the immunotherapy that someone posted on CNN feed in response to the Oncotype trial. I believe it. I have seen that UPenn has had progress curing late stage lung w Car T therapy and immunotherapy for blood cancers. I think (my background is 2 years of nursing from 28 years ago LOL) that this will be the pivotal point in cancer treatments! We are going to see it on our lifetimes!!

Yes I totally agree! Do you agree how they have not really said much about this? This lady is 52 now and had treatment 3 years ago. She also did not go public until now. Now I don’t want to sound paranoid but why did they wait so long for her story. I would have been on every news show talk show or who ever would have me. It’s very hard to totally cure any 4 stage cancer. Is it just me?

Snowcone16 profile image
Snowcone16 in reply to Clair19

I agree. It’s pretty quiet although my non BC friends saw it on the news too. Maybe it’s part of ensuring it’s gone...like don’t they usually say 5 years w NED to be cancer free? It will be interesting how criteria for eligibility is decided. Like will they require to try oral meds or chemo first before this option.

Even before I could take Botox for migraines, I had to show 90 days of trying other stuff without success. But, Ibrance is pretty pricey too so maybe insurance would consider this protocol cheaper. So many questions!

Also, they say 144,000 are living w MBC but you know—that could be more. For one, because I was originally stage 2 then I don’t get counted in 4 statistics. But maybe it’s not plastered everywhere because they think it’s a smaller audience.

Hi, I've been reading everyone's posts for about a month now, so I'm relatively a newby. Yes, I've had three friends send me info on this trial today. One was an article on the BBC newsfeed. This is making me so happy I have cried. I was first diagnosed in 2013, with a 1 cm. breast nodule. They did a lumpectomy and took the sentinel node out. Then I had radiation and was put on Arimidex. I had spots on my liver last summer, had a biopsy done in November, which found mbc also in my lymph nodes and many tumors in my bones and spine. My T2 vertebra crushed from a tumor at that point, and they gave me radiation to shrink it. This went well, and I am pretty well recovered from that fracture. I have been on Ibrance, Faslodex and Xgeva for about 6 months now and have my 6 month PETscan coming up on Thursday. I think all is in remission, because I feel so good. Everyone I know and I have been praying for this news that's coming out. It just HAS to happen and SOON. My mother died in '68 when I was 17y/o with bc and my niece has it now. My Dad had colon cancer and died when I was 7 y/o. So I have been waiting for this news with much anticipation and for many years, however I had always hoped I would never be the "next". I just hope we all can get this treatment too and soon. I'm going to see my oncologist after the scan and ask her about the implications for us. Wish me luck on Thursday! BTW, I love this group! You all are so positive and supportive! Thank you all for posting. God bless you all!

Hi,

What is the name of the drug? Does anyone know?

Clair19 profile image
Clair19 in reply to Sjjohnson52

It’s Immune Thearpy for mbc. Google cbs Dr Steven Rosenberg. It’s for women with mbc.

Snowcone16 profile image

It’s reprogramming the T lymphocytes to take the battle.

Yes that’s what it is I should have been able to explain it better. I guess being a Geriatric Nurse I’m lost with oncology. You would not think that would be that hard to do, but I gotta believe some people do better than others. I sure would love the opportunity.

Hi clair19. I have not heard about this at all. They just spoke about early stage breast cancer perhaps going without chemo if they r estrogen positive and no lymph node involvement. But where did u hear this from? I watch the news all the time and missed this! I am going to look up the doctor u mention. So exciting I hope it is the answer!!!! Bless you for posting this. Let’s never lose hope!!!!

CBS last night. Google CBS immune therapy for mbc or breast cancer. Judy Perkins was with Dr. Jon LaPook. She was injected with her own cells within 10 days she could feel the tumors shrinking. She has been cancer free 3 years. She was Her2 positive and it spread to liver and lungs real bad. I wish I could copy and paste. I just was reading it.

When my husband yelled come quick it’s about breast cancer cure I said same thing just for early stage. Then started watching and amazing. She was diagnosed 10 years ago came back then now cured.

Clair19 in reply to Epinto

Yes I know about not getting chemo for early breast cancer. I never got any Chemo when I was first diagnosed. They have been talking about that for years. I had stage 2 18 years ago and just had lumpectomy with radiation no chemo they wanted me to I refused. Now I’m Her2 Negative. I hope you where able to find the article the Drs are saying they have not seen anything like this in there life time.

So amazing! So many new discoveries and science! I will read about it and am going to my oncology appt the end of this month for treatment at sloan in Manhattan. I will ask about it. Did it say what the criteria was for treatment? Estrogen positive or herceptin neg or positive or any Mets? Too many questions! I will look it up! Thanks for the info Clair.

Clair19 profile image
Clair19 in reply to Epinto

Yeah hey she had it met to liver and lungs after 10 years Her2 positive I do believe. Never to many questions. I don’t think there was any criteria just she had mbc from 10 years ago. I hope you read more it’s right on the CBS web page for June 4th nightly news. Very very interesting and informative. Gives us all hope.

May I ask what kind of treatment you get?

Epinto profile image
Epinto in reply to Clair19

Yes Claire. Like most of us here I am taking ibrance for two years now and faslidex injections every month and blood work. Pet scans every four months which July will probably be next one. Has breast ca in 2011 and had mastectomy, radiation and chemo. Lymph node involvement. Was doing well for four years on arimidex and the redusgnosed in 2016 with bone Mets. That’s it in a nutshell! I will definitely be speaking with my doctors at the next visit in June about all of this.

I'm new here (diagnosed with Stage 4 in Sept. 2016, recurrence almost 20 years after Stage I cancer) - great news!! Just finished ibrance/Femara which worked for 18 months, now on ibrance/Faslodex. Still feeling great, thanks to hormone therapy. I hope this new treatment becomes viable for all of us soon! Nice to "meet" everyone here.

Clair 19, I honestly don't mean to be negative. I was so excited because nothing seems to be working for me. I watched one of those interviews. The gentleman being interviewed said it's only been done on 3 people. She did well, one died of an infection and it didn't work on the 3rd person. He also said it was still a long way off. I was very disappointed.

Snowcone16 profile image
Snowcone16 in reply to Selmac

I’m cautiously optimistic...I haven’t changed my course of treatments!! But, I need to focus on the positives of every day. It’s good there was success. It’s good they are talking about MBC and focused on it. This CAN happen in our lifetime. I remember hearing about HIV and AIDS in the 80s..it was terrible how many lives were lost. But today, it’s managed as a chronic illness and many live a long time.

I even celebrated seeing the Verzsnio commercial. I was like “omg, they are focusing on it. More options “.

Hugs 🤗

Oh my gosh I would be jumping for joy. I hope they do rush this thru and we can all benefit. I wish i had heard about it. I will google and see what I can find. I am hoping to start a new drug called Piqray. I just have to have the correct gene which I should know in the next few weeks.

Hi Clair,

Can I ask which treatment this is please? I know your post was from a year ago but I wondered if this was still in clinical trial or whether it has moved forward to FDA approval status.

Thank you so much. X
