My name is Lynne and I live in Nebraska. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 with bilateral mastectomy. Did well for 6 + years and just diagnosed with MBC to bones in spine, lymph nodes in neck and both lungs. Recently went through 3 weeks of radiation therapy to help some pain in my right arm as a result of the cancer. I am currently on faslodex and starting Inrance next week. Needless to say it has been difficult coming to grips with this new diagnosis and hoping to have good results with the Ibrance. It is nice to have this forum to communicate with others in my same position.

Hi Lynne. My name is Kim and I am new to the group. I live in Vermont. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 with bilateral mastectomy. I did well until this year and was diagnosed with MBC to lymph nodes. The lymph nodes in my neck, stomach and lower back went crazy! I just finished my first 3 weeks of Ibrance and have had the first 3 Fasoldex shots. So far I have had no side effects from either. I did lose about 15 pounds when I first found out. The lymph nodes were making it hard to sleep and eat. I was very depressed for a few weeks, but after a visit to the Dana Farber Institute in Boston I felt much better about my prognosis. They were wonderful doctors and they assured me that I was on the right path. I know now that if these medicines stop working I have other choices. I wish you all the best!

HI and welcome! I'm still new to this group, but not at all new to mbc or mbc on line support. I've had mets since first diagnosis, over 13 years ago. I've been on Faslodex since late 2008 and it has been very good to me. Ibrance was added after a bit of progression early in 2016 but I developed some lung issues (ILD) and dropped the Ibrance after about 9 cycles. For many of us with mbc, the first months are the hardest--this is sure a blow and takes time to get settled with the diagnosis. Stabilizing cancer sure helps! In the time I've been in treatment for mbc, several new drugs have come along and more is known, both within the oncology community and the general public, though metastatic cancer is often not well understood by alot of people. Having a place like this to go to for support, information, venting and the wisdom of experience sure helps! I hope you will do really well! Many of us do.

I used to live in Wyoming and my mother spent the last 20 years of her life in Cheyenne, so I have driven thru Nebraska many times. Where are you in the state? If you decide to find a bc specialist onc for a second opinion, Denver or Chicago might be closest to you.

Hi Lynne,

This is Sheila I am still doing well. I see the oncologist tomorrow.I receive the devastating news March 9,2016 over 17 months ago.

I have started to have some of joint pain and I have gained about 25 pounds since starting the meds. (letrozle)

We are thankful for everyday.

Mets in the bone to my knowledge no other mets.

Tomorrow I find out if we are still stable normal that has been what my scans read♥️

GOD has certainly been faithful in his word to me!

No proir cancer when the cancer was present as Mets when found

If I can ever be of help please let me know good luck on your journey♥️

I've gained weight too. I hadn't thought about the Femara being the cause. If it doesn't move fast enough-I eat it. 😳

I was in remission for 11 years and then in January 2016 a horrible cough was dx as horrific amounts of tumors in both lungs and the lung lining. It's metastatic breast cancer in both lungs. I went through 20 rounds of chemo. I couldn't have radiation. After a year of treatment, my recent scans show one small itty bitty tumor. Praise God! I'm on Femara but dr is considering adding Ibrance to help keep me stable. This is not a death sentence. It's a journey and there's still a beautiful life ahead of you. Sometimes you have to go through alot of hard stuff, but I found that it's been worth it. I'm so much more appreciative of everything. Today is all I have, just like everyone else, and I'm going to be thankful and not fear about tomorrow. God is in control. He will never leave you. Allow Him to lead you. It will get better! Stay off the internet!
