Matastic Breast Cancer in Liver

Hi! My name is Lois and I was diagnosed in October 2015 with stage 4 matastic breadt cancer. They found this 1 month before I was cancer free 6 years. Was a sad day, but I am still surviving. My cancer is in my liver, sternum, one vertabrae and some lymph nodes deep in my chest. I have gone through many types of chemo, hormone therapy and some works on some of the sites but I started with 1 small mass on my liver and now there are 3. I have a great Doc and he is very optomistic we can stablize this cancer. So that is my hope and prayer. I am thankful for this group. I have been reading the posts and they are encouraging. My main way of coping is keeping busy when I feel good, but God is the one I lean on. My husband is the greatest also. My support group is always growing and staying positive! Thank you for listening!

Hi Lois!

Glad u joined the group. Diagnosed with MBC with bones mets from the start July '16...My key from the start has always been to just keep going. Planning a vacation in July. Maybe China next year to see my nephew get married...that kind of thing...and of course pray hard. And enlist prayer warriors!

Hi Lois! I also have mets in the liver, bones, and chest lymph nodes. The mets were first discovered in the bones 7 years ago and for a while, it stayed that way and was stable for 2.5 years. I've had liver mets for about 3 years and have been on a bunch of clinical trial and standard of care treatments...currently taxotere, carboplatin, and herceptin are starting to control the disease. It sounds like you trust your onc and that is great that he thinks you'll be able to stabilize the disease!

Fightingnana, keep fighting. I don't know which subtype of breast cancer you have but a lot of work is being done in breast cancer stem cell research and clinical trials for metastatic breast cancer are underway. If you're in the US you could contact Dr. Max Wicha, University of Michigan Cancer Center. His office would have more information. Dr. Wicha believes that in combination with our chemotherapy and targeted drugs, drugs that could target the left-over stem cells that are very resistant and can self-renew would assist us greatly. He recently won an award for his work in breast cancer stem cell research.

Stay positive about your BC. Pray every day, especially to St. Michael of the Saints who is the Patron Saint of Cancer Patients. I just found out about this Saint recently. Google his name and you'll find 2 prayers on the website that you can say daily. There have been cures associated with praying to him to intercede for you in helping you with your cancer. Of course only God heals and St. Michael is an intercessory.

I pray these prayers every day. It can't hurt. And the important thing to remember is to have FAiTH that you will be healed. God Bless. Kats2

Hello. I'm Kathy, and I'm on Ibrance and injections for cancer in my liver, lung, and spine. Ibrance is very well tolerated with very few side effects. Do you take that drug? I am 75 and was cancer free for 6-1/2 years! It was a big shock for me to be diagnosed with 4th stage breast cancer but I am encouraged by so many that are surviving on these drugs. We have much to be thankful for and I continue to have faith and Believe!! Kathy

My wife was originally diagnosed with BC in 2013 , in April 2017 she was diagnosed stage 4 to her bones ,liver,lungs she is 62 and it was devasting news..she has had the chemo Taxol for the last six months and is shortly going on Ibrance and Faslodex ,the chemo regressed it some and we are hoping that this will help some more..
