Would like to know if anyone on here is on this combination for treatment for stage IV met BC. I was on exemastane for 3.5 years but stopped working and this may be my new treatment plan. Any feedback would be appreciated.

in reply to Warrior08

Hello Warrior08,

I notice your Dr has put you on more of the same, ie: Aromatase Inhibitors (AI).

I am ER+ MBC Stage IV. From 2003 I was on Tamoxifen for 2 years, Aromasin for 3 years. Then a break of NED, Recurrence 2011, Letrozole for 3+ years, then in early 2015 tumour in axilla removed. Put on Aromasin until early 2016 when tumour recurred in same place. Finally the Oncologist confirmed that the ER+ had developed a resistance to these drugs.

Might be worth mentioning?

Best wishes

Hi. I am on Tykerb and Xeloda and have been since October 2016. I have had 2 scans and so far, so good. The only side effect that I have is my hands get a little dry but I use a good lotion and it works great.

I hope and pray that it continues to work for all of us.

I will pray for you that it continues to work for you I don't go for a scan until April. What type of cancer do you have ? Have you done any other treatments or is this your first

I have Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. I have been taking chemo since April 2014. I was originally on 4 chemo drugs, Perjeta, Herceptin, Taxotere and something else (I can't remember) but I was terribly allergic to it and ended up in the hospital and almost died, then he tried just Herceptin for 6 months and that didn't work, so I was on Kadcyla for 22 months. It worked great until October 2016 when it spread to the lymph nodes in my chest. I have been on the Tykerb and Xeloda since October. I am HER2+

I also have it in the lymph nodes in my chest wall and in neck, I was on ibrance and faslodex for a year, then i had a progression to my ovaries and they just put me on xeloda, but the Ibece and faslodex did work for a year, i was was fine with the 2 pills in the morning of the xeloda and two at night, then they upped it to 3 in the morning and 3 at night, i ended up on the 3rd day of the 3 pills in the e.r. had such chest paint and shoulder pains, i was there for 3 day getting every test in the world, i passed all of then so the doctor there and my cardioligest agreed the 3 pills in the morning and 3 at night (equally 3,000 mils a day) is too much, i go to my oncologist on thursday to discuss it, im just curious, what is you dose of xeloda? I wanna go back to 2 in the morning 2 at night which is only 2,000 mils a day rather then 3'

I have been on those 2 since March 2016. PET/CT scans every 3 mos. Last 2...no active cancer. So blessed. I am also on xgeva every month for my bones. Stage 4 BC with mets to to bones. Neupogen after chemo to raise my counts. That is the worst of it. Pain for 4 days but then I am back to myself again. I am 59, live in NY and am expecting my first grandchild in June. I am a 20 year survivor of the forst cancer as thisis a recurrence. I will fight it again. No doubt.

I've been on Femara since November. The dr will add Ibrance when things change. The information I've read says the two do better together.

I have been on, Ibrance, Letrozole and monthly injection of Xgeva for 6 months. At the beginning of Ibrance I had nausea like getting car sick. It seemed to go away after a few days possibly a week. I had a tough time with my neutrophils. In the beginning you will have a CBC 2 weeks in to check all your counts. Most importantly your ANC or Absolute Neutraphil Count. The Neutraphil helps attack bacteria. Very important in fighting bacterial infection. Mine was so low we had to halt and reduce the dose three times. My counts continue to be low but not at extreme low and not the normal persons low. It is below that. I suggest in case this happens to you to practice great hygiene, the 3 foot personal space rule, and cary your hand sanitizer everywhere. Just to be safe. This of course may not happen to you but if it does at least you can be comfortable knowing you are trying to stay as healthy as possible. I would also suggest doing yourself a favor and go get a good mani/pedi before starting. My nails are so soft now. Plus you don't want to get a fungus or bacterial infection from the salon if your immune system becomes compromised. Besides I love mani/pedis no better way to spend an afternoon.

Check out pfizers webpage for Ibrance lots of great guidelines and an organizer to help keep you on schedule.

This regimen has so far been successful at shrinking and stabilizing bone met growth. I just got that good news Monday. I hope you are as successful. Hang in there.

I am on Letrozole and Ibrance. It's my understanding that this is the combination that has proven to be the most successful since the introduction of Ibrance. So far so good for me.

Prayers and well wishes to all.

The literature looks very promising. I have been on letrozole 2 years and am looking at adding Ibrance (Palbociclib) to the mix. Mine is a bone met, so also injecting Xgeva once a month. I did a very thorough search of the research papers and Ibrance looks very effective with letrozole or tamoxifen. The side effects scare me though. Chemo was not smooth sailing for me. I have not heard of the drug you were on.
