Surgery next week!

So, basically Im scheduled to have a certain type of lumpectomy, can't remember the name. They are also going to do a sentinel lymph removal surgery and test for cancer. They are removing my left nipple and the arreola because that's where the cancer is. So far my Pagets disease has been on the nipple arreola area so I'm praying the tissue in my breast comes back negative. My doctor says if it's positive, I'll do chemo, hormone therapy and radiation. But if negative, possibly only radiation. Im worried about missing work when I should be concerned with beating this disease. Does anyone know how long I'll be down with this procedure. Just wondering because theres a conference I wanted to attend just 6 days after my surgery. Is this a good idea?

Hi! I felt fine after my surgery. But I had a drain for about a week. So I guess that would be the difference for me. If u have drains or not. I didn’t take any pain meds after leaving the hospital so that wasn’t an issue...😀❤️😀

After my lumpectomy both times I went back to school where I volunteer 2 days later. I had 33 radiation treatments a month later. Went in 30 minutes lunch time at school & back in 10 minutes. Takes longer to undress & dress than actual radiation. I did burn but just put soft material between bra & burn & did fine. Very tired when I went home. I was told keep going & you do better with everything. No problems until you take medicine...it’s deadly. Hope you do well & I hoped this helped. I have saying I always use....fake it till you make it! Oh yes I had 3 lymph nodes out for them to check. That was & still does ache or hurt.

I'm not sure if I'll have a drain or not. I definitely forgot to ask. Your response is uplifting and gives me hope that I'll recover quickly. Thank you for responding. 🤗

Glad it helped, I’m having my unaffected breast reduced in December to even me up as my surgeon so eloquently puts it and I can honestly say I’m not dreading it at all. Good luck with your op xx

Two things first of all I had a lump removed and it was I would describe it as extremely tender. I had this fear of somebody bumping into it it definitely took a couple weeks the heal up I think it took me eight weeks. I have Scar Tissue underneath of it so it's sore to the touch but it doesn't hurt otherwise. I really wouldn't plan on going to a conference it's just a really bad idea to being around crowds where somebody could bump into you And you will not feel well in 6 days I hate to tell you. Secondly why are you getting radiation if you don't have cancer yet? Can they just aggressively watch that area? I really want to stress how important it is to change your diet 100% Whole Foods plant-based one, and get as much cardiopulmonary exercise as possible. I get concerned when too much aggressive medicine is done to us women but certainly don't take any chances if you trust your doctor. It just doesn't hurt to do some research for food as medicine and other healthy lifestyle behaviors that could prevent further illness
