Went back to doctors and he said there is three lumps in my breast and is sending me back to the breast clinic under the two week wait.

I’m so nervous. Three lumps? What the hell? I couldn’t feel them, just kept getting a shooting pain at the top of my breast. Has anyone else been through this experience? How do I cope with the wait?

I’m 24 and scared as shit.

Scared as hell? Yep. We've pretty much all been there. Just remember that having 3 lumps doesn't mean they are all something to worry about. Could all be cysts or pmsy. The shooting pain could be related to that. I'm not an expert here (I just play one with my family!) but I think feeling pain is a good thing. The C word shit doesn't hurt.

I have a 20 yr old daughter so I can imagine how scared she would be. Try not to panic (sounds like a dumb thing to say when you think about it). The odds are definitely in your favour. I think everyone agrees that waiting is the hardest part. I start googling & reading books but I try to stick to the good sites like _____ Cancer Assoc. etc. Then again staying off google might be better. If I read anything too scary I look up jokes.

Alot of ladies have mentioned Keeping Busy. I spent many hours organizing the house before my surgery. I'm 54 so the odds weren't really in my favour. Ha! Rereading that it sounds like organizing my house was a crap shoot & it actually is! I did mean odds for breat cancer being considerably less favourable. Make sure you keep us posted. We are here for you for reassurance, advice & to listen when you need to bitch or just unload. I can't remember if you'd said you were in the UK. I'm in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Try spelling Saskatchewan & then say it quickly 10 x when you start to worry! I know it's scary but you will get through this wait. I have a really good feeling this will all be ok. I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers.

Hugs & Positive Vibes

The unknown and waiting.....they are difficult to experience. I am 52 now, went through breast cancer at 47. I did experience lumps and biopsies starting at 20...right after I went on the pill. I went on the pill 2 different times in my early years and each time developed benign cysts right after. I wouldn't worry, glad you are getting them checked. Hang in there.

Thank you so much for both of your replies. I’ve been getting really bad back ache and keep thinking these two are linked. And that it’s spread to my bones. Maybe I’m just being stupid but I don’t know what to think.

Hello SLV94. Yes the eating is excruciating but very often the result is positively good and you feel like all the anxiety was for nothing . 3 tines in my twenties and thirties I had the terrors of waiting for breast scan results all which were nothing to worry about and only after I retired I got breast cancer ; we all know how hard it is trying to steel yourself for the worst news in case it turns out but if you can possibly use distraction in the meantime this will help... I wish you all the best and please keep in touch whatever your results .

You will have a lot of support from the many women who truly understand .

Sending a hug . Take care

Hi I've had so many biopsies that turned out negative that I lost count! Never felt the lumps, even though I do self-exams. Waiting is hard, so try to keep busy. Yes, that is easier said than done, but it helps a great deal. Try to stay away from googling - so much of the information is old, and even if your lump(s) turn out to be positive, there are so many new treatments that are fantastic! I went to a conference about 8 years ago where the experts were talking in tentative terms about "cure." Use friends to keep yourself busy - there is nothing like looking forward to spending time with people who love you! Do some special things for yourself - something you have wanted to do but haven't done yet. You have age on your side, which is a good thing to focus on, too. Sending prayers your way for the best possible outcome

Hi SLV94. As to your back aching...I bet it's due to the stress of dealing w your situation. I've had troubles w my back over the years....when you are stressed, you tense up, you get muscle tension. People often hold their tension in a particular area of their body. Sometimes I get a pain in my neck & other times I am just "a pain in the neck!"

I've been on 3 boards for about 3 months & do Alot of reading. I've never heard of anyone mentioning back pain being related to cancer in your situation. I would recommend a nice hot bath w epsom salts (a cup). Add a bath bomb or bubbles. If you have any essential oils....add a few drops w a spoon of oil or milk. Lavender is good. I think you might like Jasmine. It is very uplifting. This will relax your back & ease your mind. I like to make an occasion of it & add a cold drink in a plastic water bottle, a book or magazine & a bath pillow (rolled up hand towel works).

Please remember that even if you have 3 lumps & worst case scenario there is a problem it doesn't mean that each one is a problem (happened to me). But don't let that scare you! In the words of Dory in Finding Nemo "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming."

I just asked my 20 yr daughter who has anxiety what to suggest. She says to watch funny TV, etc.

Try "Kath & Kim" on Netflix (Australian mother & adult daughter. Hilarious)

Youtube - "Happy Slip" - a young Filipino (we think) woman acts out skits playing all the characters of her family. There is a soap opera between Claire & twin sister Audrey. Silly but funny.

Denizt. I think your typo is so funny like it was meant to be....yes, sometimes eating can be excruciating but often w a positive outcome (paraphrasing). Sometimes the weighing in after the eating can be excruciating as well!

When I'm stressed out I try to remember "This too shall pass." If you think back to all the tough times you've been through & how you didn't know how you would cope & then you did. Ta da! When I was waiting for surgery (which you will likely not need) I was saying to myself "I can't do this" I read that when you say that you Are actually do it." Kind of like you are preparing your mind, etc.

You can do this & you Will do this!!

Hi so I was sent back to the breast clinic and they did another ultrasound. They said I have fibro glandular breast tissue and that’s where the lumps have come from.

I feel happier now knowing it’s nothing awful.

I’m just paranoid and think I’m feeling lumps all the time when I’m sure it’s just breast tissue.

Well that’s what they told me.

Thank you for all your help.
