Post chemo return to "norm"

Good evening all,

I am writing to ask if anyone has experienced GI symptoms (bloating, cramping, nausea, and some lower back pain) months after chemotherapy. I am 9 weeks post finishing chemo for breast CA and just trying to return to a "normal" diet and lifestyle. I did have some discomfort when i started to reintroduce salads and fresh fruits/vegi's, but I'm not sure if this is a new sensitivity because of chemo or just a new food intolerance.

Would love some advice!

Thank you,

Kirsten

Hmm, I did not. I would definitely ask your doctor about this.

Thank you! Ended up being a stomach virus, that took a while to go away. Can't wait for my immune system to truly return!

Hi Kirsten,

I agree you definitely need to check this with your Dr. Just wondering if you take Tamoxifen as I found it gave me GI problems like you describe (although not the back pain).

I got very worried about my symptoms and my Onc sent me for an endoscopy but it turned out to be gastritis with small ulcers. I switched to an AI and eventually it all healed.

Good luck

Deborah

Thank you! I actually ended up checking with MD. Ended up with a stomach virus! Guess my immune system has not completely returned.

Thank you for your reply!
