23 year breast cancer survivor, just found small lump.

Hi

I am new to this site, many thanks for accepting me.

I had a mastectomy 23 years ago, at the age of 39, I had 15 lymph nodes removed and several were positive. I had chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

About fifteen years ago I had an silicone/saline permanent expander implant inserted, the surgeon said it would give me a cleavage.

Earlier this year I started to get eczema, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism seven years ago and Doctor said the eczema could be associated with been hypo.

This week I notice what I thought was the eczema on my mastectomy scar. On closer examination I feel it is not eczema as it is not a rash as such, just a redness of the skin on the scar. Today I can now feel a small hard lump (smaller than a pea) on top of the implant, under my skin, about an inch above the scar but to the right of the redness.

I am worrying myself sick and have made an appointment to see my Doctor tomorrow.

Could it be a reoccurance after all these years?

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. Let us know how you do at your doctor's appointment.

Hi

Doctor has referred me to the breast clinic and I should be seen within the next two weeks. She thinks it unlikely to be a recurrence but I need to get it checked at the clinic.

Glad to hear that your doctor feels it is unlikely to be a recurrence. Let us know how you do at the clinic.

Thank you, I will do.

I hope it is not cancer. I hope you see your Doctor so you can find out and stop worrying. I have heard people whose cancer has come back after 30 years. I pray that this isn't the case for you

I also pray it isn't the case for me.

Doctor has just referred me to the breast clinic and I should be seen within two weeks.

She thinks it unlikely to be a recurrence but it obviously needs to be checked out.

Thank you for your kind words.

I am trying not to worry, I will let you know how I get on at the clinic.

I think you've already taken the most important step by making an appointment with your doctor.

While it's possible to have a recurrence at any time, most of my customers seem to have experienced either metastasis to another part of the body, or a new cancer in the other breast.

Please let us all know how you fare at the doctor's and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Be well,

Ronnie Dale

Many thanks for your kind words.

Doctor has just referred me to the breast clinic and I should be seen within two weeks.

I am trying not to worry as she has said she thinks it unlikely to be a recurrence but I obviously need to be checked over at the clinic.

Stay positive and prayerful! Self diagnosing is the worst as I have done it too. But when I go there I pray and say positive.
